That\'s very scary stuff. It\'s a shame we have to worry about something like that.

I wish you luck at this problem being resolved quickly.

Quote:Well I woke up this morning, checked my e-mail and there was an e-mail from paypal saying my account was on "limited account access". So come to find out that last night someone hacked into my Paypal account and pretty much went on a shopping spree and took a nice chunk out of my bank account.. $400. Paypal is on the case since they are the ones that spotted the shady behavior. I called them, they said there was an investigation going on, but that could take up to 30 days to resolve anything. Meanwhile, I\'m out 400 crackers of my bill money. I\'m very distraught over this. It really socks. Oh yeah 3 of the 5!! transaction are overseas. So be careful guys. These scumbags are out there.

I don\'t know if this means anything, but I get e-mails exactly like you described all the time. The paypal e-mail looks totally credible, but then it asks for you to click a link to report the fradulent spending. I always close out of my e-mail...then log into my account directly through paypal\'s website. My account was never hacked.

The e-mails were spoofs....someone trying to get me to give my account info and passwords.

Obviously you already filed with paypal so apparently yours is legit...I guess it just sounded off alarm bells for me because the spoof email I lways get freaks the bejesus out of me too. It specifically said, "limited account access" and reported that someone had spent $400 of my money. But it never really happened.

why is everybody trying to get all gangsta in this thread??

Something Bad Happened - Dagon - 10-09-2006

Sorry to hear that. My brother had someone steal $500 bucks from his bank account. The stupid thing was that it was some guy that walked into the bank and withdrew the money. They didn\'t even ID him for anything, but thank God it was all on camera and the little bitch got arrested weeks later. Sad thing is, a couple weeks after this incident happened, someone in Florida (my brother lives in North Carolina) took out a credit card in his name Huh.

You have to be extremely careful these days. These people get your info and then sell it to numerous people. Very much a pain in the cornhole to fix it.

I was thinking about getting my PayPal account verified, but I think I just won\'t worry about it, and keep my bank account to myself.
