just bang the edge with a hammer, this might create some burrs, so file those down on the edge of a concrete step or on a rock..everyone owns a hammer!
But hey a machete is a still dangerouse when it is dull and you could still get in trouble for carrying one, or pretending you are going to kill people with one.
