Avoiding Customs Fees! - noxious_infestation - 10-18-2004 Hey ChosenOne you try telling them that!! Avoiding Customs Fees! - Andy - 10-18-2004 I\'ve had alot of masks sent from the US and Canada and so far only had to pay import duty 3 times. Sucks when you do and it doesnt always seem to matter what the value is marked at <_< but gift normaly does the trick ![]() Avoiding Customs Fees! - EverythingJason - 10-18-2004 Quote:Wrong. Aslong as it\'s marked as a gift, you don\'t have to pay anything, no matter what the value is.No, that is not true. I had to pay custom fees before even though it was marked as a gift. If it comes in a huge box and it is marked as a gift and customs opens the box they sometimes put a flat rate charge on it. They do have to charge 5 bucks just for looking at the item plus whatever percentage of the "value". They can do pretty much whatever they want when it comes to that kinda stuff and it is actually considered fraud marking something as a gift especially if the return address is a business. It is always wise to mark an item like that with a value of 15 dollars because that is usually very acceptable and doesn\'t require any charges. Avoiding Customs Fees! - FullMoonFever - 10-19-2004 that is extremely odd. Okay I admit I don\'t deal with sending masks all over the place but i DO send My Little Pony collectibles and I have recieved a package from Greece that I paid about $400 for (damnit don\'t laugh at me) and I did NOT have to pay a cent on customs or anything, the sender marked it as a gift and it was plopped at my door. Whenever I send out packages to Europe or wherever else sometimes Africa etc, I always mark it as a gift and no one has had to pay customs or import fees. Maybe you have money grubbing morons at the postal service. But if I was in your situation I\'d pay up the fee then yell at them. ~Jenn Avoiding Customs Fees! - ChainGrave - 10-19-2004 Quote:I\'ve had alot of masks sent from the US and Canada and so far only had to pay import duty 3 times. I\'ve recieved tons of packages overseas and I\'ve only had to pay cutom fees twice (because they were was marked as merchendise, and not gift). Some of them were marked with a value of $100 and more, but aslong as they were marked as gifts, I didn\'t have to pay anything. Avoiding Customs Fees! - Andy - 10-19-2004 Quote::oI think officially we should pay import tax and duty on anything we get from outside the UK ![]() It is rare to get a fee stamped on an incoming parcel but its the risk you have to take. You should be ok, Cyc ships overseas all the time so he knows how to mark parcels but you never know  |
