In Canada we have the same problem... When I buy something from the US I ask the seller to mark it as a gift and declare about 20$. It come home way faster and I have nothing to pay. They can hold the stuff for about a week just to get a right price for them <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"confused.gif\" /> ... The worse thing is when you buy something that has a COA that tells the price... if the declared value is 20$, but you have a COA that says it worth 600$ you're in trouble... they will charge you the taxes for 600 bucks. From the seller side, its kind of frustrating as they cannot really insure the item... they cannot declare 20$ and insure it for 300$... So it's a bit risky for them.Anyways, good luck with your glove man.

Aidan just be prepared that you have to pay a lot of money.even though a package is marked as "<b>a gift</b>" / low value etc..... the customs charge the fees (because it is you are receiving a package from <u>outside of the European Union</u>.recently i received just a part 6 glove from the USA in The Netherlands and i had to pay: 39.00 Euros = 53.28 USA dollars customs charge fees. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sick.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Sick\" border=\"0\" alt=\"sick.gif\" /> the customs must be rich they make big money. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/woot.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":woot:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"woot.gif\" />

currently Economy service Vat from the USA to the Uk is 17.5 % I know this because I have 3 bills to pay to fedEx for some sideshow and hot toys stuff I've had recently, one good thing with fedex is they post you your item first and then send you the bill, bad thing is on top of the 17.5% vat they charge a handling fee of £10 just to bump the pricejust as an ideasideshow cost £125.52vat at %17.5 = £23.11 + £10 handling admin fee ( robbing bastards )total £33.11 I think your looking at paying approx £60+ if it's marked up as $500 <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"confused.gif\" /> gotta way it up mate, will it be cheaper to decline the parcel and have it sent back to the sender and then get it re posted marked as a gift with no more than $40 or pay the bill now and just have it, depending if they don't open the parcel and check it out , thats when it becomes a Sheep <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pinch.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":pinch:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"pinch.gif\" /> This is down to customs mate and I know it's horrible to hear but if it did get destroyed it's not really down to fredsmiddlefinger to replace it he's done his side of the sale , so he would end up taking a loss if he re built you a glove in time and materials for something that he is not responsible for <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Sad\" border=\"0\" alt=\"sad.gif\" />for this reason only I'd say if they have not opened it already pay what the hell they want and get it delievered because they sure as hell will open it up if they have to send it back and then there is a 90% chance your not going to see that glove again <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pinch.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":pinch:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"pinch.gif\" />

Let us know what happens, this is just messed up...

Customs Holding Glove? - Fredsmidfinger - 03-09-2010

Like i said Adee.. If the glove doesn't make it too you i will make you another.. It cost $40+ alone just too ship it..

Customs Holding Glove? - adee - 03-09-2010

It took me like 3 months to pay for it! I'll be gutted if it gets lost now. Thanks FMF, if it does come to that, I'll meet you halfway and pay the shipping costs again for you. SF is right, you don't have to do it, but I'll know exactly where to go for my next glove if you do help me out. I have a lot of respect for sellers that look after their customers. I gave bad feedback on an amazon purchase recently as it had taken so long to arrive. The seller contacted me, refunded everthing including the postage with no proof that I was even telling the truth. I have since deleted the feedback and now ordered 2 more books from them. Good service goes a long way.

I've shipped hundreds of gloves and I've never paid more than $29 to ship a glove internationally.

Customs Holding Glove? - adee - 03-09-2010

I think because he put a $500 insurance value on it, which ironically is probably why it's being held awaiting charges. If it had been shipped as a gift under $20 value, there would have been more risk of it getting lost and no risk of customs charging, but then knowing my luck it would have got lost in the mail! lol

anything insured is going to cost you money.i had to pay over £100 custom charges for my myers mask because the sender insured it for 800 dollars.i was not pleased at all.

Customs Holding Glove? - adee - 03-09-2010

Annoyingly, I only paid $150 for it but it's insured for $500 so I may end up paying almost as much again <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Sad\" border=\"0\" alt=\"sad.gif\" />
