also the materials used to spray and paint silicone are toxic, from what i have heard. i am no mask maker but i have spoken to a lot of guys that use these materials and you have to exhaust the sprayed material immediately to avoid inhalation. call it hazard pay, but i think that would add to the cost also.

The process is much different. Not only is the molding process more involved, but so is the casting process. It's not as simple as "pour silicone in and out."
