Lamson H1 Replica Prop Knife - KingViper - 02-06-2005
Here is the info abou the knife typed by the maker:
This is a 17 1/2" Lamson prop knife that I made. The blade is made of 3/16" polished aluminum. The handle is made of cedar. I painted ALL of the detail on the handle. Even the handle pins are painted on! I used a metallic brass color paint for them, then I painted a black fine line around the brass color to make the pins look real. This way there is no sloppy drilling and they actually look REAL! Then I stained and weathered the handle and painted the black grain detail. The handle of the true Lamson knife is very tough to duplicate the real shape, but I made some templates and kept working with them until I got it right. Last I made a stencil for "LAMSON" and painted it on the handle. This is the first one that I have made and plan to make many more! I will change the shape of the blade a tad on the next ones as well as the Lamson logo (tweak it a bit). I take a lot of pride in my work and I\'m hard to please! As you can see, there is a lot of work involved in making one of these with this much detail so I\'m not sure exactly what I will charge for them yet. This first one is very impressive in person, but they will get even better. Just wanted to share it with ya\'ll.
