Nightowl May Have A Virus Floating Around... - IbDaToNeGuY - 02-15-2005 i have something called Bloodhound . whatever that thing is and how would i get rid of it? mike, Nightowl May Have A Virus Floating Around... - RavenMedia - 02-15-2005 honestly, a virus cannot get onto the board unless someone has written into it. try download a program called Zone Alarm from Zonelabs.com basically it stops attacks into your open ports on your computer and tells you how many, how severe the rating and so on, its not the board is the the damn internet as a whole. Andy Nightowl May Have A Virus Floating Around... - WilliamAbuJannah - 02-15-2005 I\'m no Sys Admin, but I am a certified microcomputer service technician. And from what I know it\'s pretty impossible to get a virus from a message board. Unless the person who wrote the board software intentionally put some kind of script in there, which I highly doubt. Virus\'s come from email attachments and questionable websites. Most notably porn sites. There\'s also a huge trojan virus loose on the internet right now, wierd name, begins with an \'H\' I think, like \'herkel\' or something like that. It\'s infecting millions of machines. It\'s not coming from this site. Download LimeWire Pro then download all the free and cracked spyware/antivirus programs you can find. Also try system mechanic and those types of softwares. These are like 100 dollar programs you can download for free through LimeWire. Run everything you can on your system, if you still can\'t get it back the way you want it. Backup everything important, save your downloaded virus/spyware programs on CD and erase your harddrive and reinstall windows. After you got windows running install all your virus software and spyware blockers, get your firewall up and running, and try connecting to the internet again. The internet is getting ridiculous. now matter how much I do to protect my pc, it still gets hopelessly infected every few months and I gotta start over. So I no longer keep personal or really important stuff on the computer. 99% of all virus and bug exploiting spywares are written and aimed specifically at PC\'s and thier built in weakness\'s and holes. Lets face it. Microsoft sucks and uses the consumer as beta testers for thier software. When users start getting trashed computers, that\'s when Microsoft goes, \'hey? we got a problem!\' and THEN they release a patch or bug fix. And if you browse the internet using Internet Explorer? Good friggin luck. You might as well just copy a virus directly to your harddrive. Cuz I.net Explorer is a damn sick joke. Worse browser ever with the worse security. Nightowl May Have A Virus Floating Around... - puckface - 02-16-2005 Ok, puter guys, yall are more then likely right. But how bout this. Now that the board changed, I get an email EVERY tiem someone replies to a post that has been made in a thread that I have posted in. I have gotten many emails form NIGHTOWL now. Is it possible its spread through the email? I just find it odd that a few peopel ahve gotten it here, that havent gotten it before.. Nightowl May Have A Virus Floating Around... - corblimey79 - 02-16-2005 Firefox rules!!! get it now this will help a little!! Dan Oh its a new browser, that rules! Nightowl May Have A Virus Floating Around... - WilliamAbuJannah - 02-16-2005 when you reply to a topic, (like lately I\'ve just been hitting that \'fast reply\' button) under the little text box that opens up there\'s a box you can check or uncheck that sez \'enable email notification of replies.\' If you make sure that box isn\'t checked you wont get that email from NIGHTOWL. I don\'t know how to uncheck that box permanently, but I haven\'t really looked around for it. And NIGHTOWL sending you that \'reply\' email wouldn\'t give you a virus I don\'t think. I\'m sure it\'s just an automated script. The possiblility exists, but the chances are pretty slim. Besides you\'re not opening NIGHTOWL attachments. I\'m sure you\'ve got spyware or a trojan that got in through your browser. That\'s how most of them are happening lately. Nightowl May Have A Virus Floating Around... - RavenMedia - 02-16-2005 hey puck, i know what u mean about the emails to when people reply, im also getting them directed to this topic. strange Nightowl May Have A Virus Floating Around... - GBeninati - 02-16-2005 Quote:hey puck, i know what u mean about the emails to when people reply, im also getting them directed to this topic.yeah it sucks you have to uncheck the box after every reply before there was a place you could go to unsubscribe from e-mail reply I couldn;t find it on the new board we will ahve to ask jeff, but I botherd him enought for one week  |
