Fiberglass Vs Abs - The Death Curse - 06-06-2005 ACTUALLY, Both fiberglass AND plastic are screen accurate, depending on what movie you\'re referencing. The part 3 and 4 masks were made of a thin fiberglass. Everything afterward was ABS up until FvsJ. You can tell in FvsJ that the hockey masks were made of a THICK resin or fiberglass. Ryan Bean Fiberglass Vs Abs - mike - 06-06-2005 jason x was fiberglass too winks i still have no idea about the 34 i mean dick says fiberglass savini says abs i never held them so i dont know but whatever it was it looked good Fiberglass Vs Abs - krazedkilla - 06-06-2005 It\'s all about your preference. Alot of mask makers use ABS plastic now a days and as far as I know the guy from fiberglass masks is the only one to use fiber glass. well the thing that I recommend you do is go on the night owl search engine and type in something like jason Hockey Mask\'s and up will come a whole bunch a findings most likely with pictures of the Hockey Mask and who it\'s from. that\'s probably the best way for you to go about choosing who to buy from. i mean i can tell you who to buy from but that wouldn\'t matter cause it\'s all about your opinion. what looks purple to me can look black to another... Fiberglass Vs Abs - gmyers - 06-06-2005 Like Paul said, if you plan on wearing them, go with ABS. I made the mistake one year of wearing a fiberglass hocking mask w/ my vs costume and it weighed down my whole head! I personally prefer ABS because of the quality. Fiberglass Vs Abs - Homicidal#9 - 06-06-2005 they weigh alot and you also do not have the give in them like abs. So, if you are wearing them for any reason, they will stay the original shape...ala...no part three form fitting at all....at least from my experiences...in respect to who you buy from...like others have said, it is all about what you like and what you want. Do not let anyone else make that decision for you. One of the few that i do not have a Hockey Mask from is Mike, which I will be remedying at the end of this week if i can talk to mike. There are alot of great Hockey Mask makers out there, so you have many to choose from. Ya know, I remember the day when there were like 2 guys to get masks from, which were Justin and Jason Z. Then Gene and Emerson came along, as well as many others.....anyway, i am rambling now... Tommy Fiberglass Vs Abs - adam - 06-06-2005 if someone could actually lay fiberglass right, it would be great. like how a boat or hockey mask (nhl kind) has laid fiberglass. however, way too many people mistake fiberglass for pure resin. resin will crack if dropped. a true fiberglass mask won\'t. you never saw a goalie in hockey take a shot to the face and have his mask shattered.. that would defeat the purpose of the mask... abs is just very durable and strong. plus, the mask can be detailed enough to where it won\'t look like a piece of plastic. Fiberglass Vs Abs - Jason-V - 06-06-2005 Quote:ACTUALLY, Yep thats how in vs they got all the spider cracks..and breaks... Some guy tried the dremel tool.. but Conor said dropping the resin Hockey Mask on the ground.. then gluing the peices back together...gave the best appearence!! And the screen accurate appearance... Fiberglass Vs Abs - puckface - 06-06-2005 My opinion out of the rest of these guys is prolly the least needed, cuz Im not gonna give ya a list of facts on the movie masks or anything. Basically just my opinion. I like abs for the fact that most movies used abs, and when holding it, I feel as if Im holding a more accurate hockey. However, when holding a resin or fiberglass mask, they usually tend to be thicker, there for, I feel as if Im holding what would really be used if the movie were real. Kind of as if the mask is real, being more thick and more protecting like a real hockey mask should be. If ya want pure accuracy, go with abs Id say. (that is if you want a 5-9 Hockey Mask). And if you want sumthing more like a real hockey mask, but yet, still will have an accurate painjob, go with sumone who uses resin/fiberglass. Fiberglass Vs Abs - Jason-V - 06-06-2005 I like glass and abs... but yet the plastic is easier to wear.. more... comfortable... but then again as fu..i mean puck face  said.. resin seems more realistic. Fiberglass Vs Abs - puckface - 06-06-2005 right you are, since resin hockey masks are made by a negative mold, the resin usually fills in the nose, making it sometimes uncomfertable for wearing |
