I was around 4 or 5 and with my mom who is a horror fan herself and she turned on Hellraiser and i\'ve been hooked since.

I actually remember going in the video store and asking her to rent a horror movie but I couldn\'t say horror right so the people in the store thought I was saying whore. lol

it was 1980 and i was five years old. Living in the projects outside chicago with my family. My mom sat us down and we watched the original wolfman with lon chaney jr., Frankenstein with boris karloff, and ended the night with Day of the Triffids.....and that is why i am this way today...

Three films changed my life.
A. Saw ANOES in broad daylight at a 4th of July party when VCRs cost $1K each. I didn\'t sleep for months, I was truly disturbed.
B. April fool\'s Day at a party when I was kid and it bugged me out.
C. Final Chapter at a friends house, This was on laser disc when those were new. (Remeber those Tommy?)
Anyway I couldn\'t even look at the screen, the part when the head slides down the machete screwed me up so bad.

So later in life as a way to conquer my fears I start collecting the stuff and sleeping in the same room with it. Now I am who I am, That was 17 years ago.

oh yeah, i remember laser discs well...i wanted a laser disc player so bad when they came out with the special edition tcm on ld...but my pop kept saying they wouldn\'t last....and for once he was right...we had one of those big ass top loader expensive vcrs as well...i remember my parents saving forever to get one...and my very first movie seen on it was....TRON....gotta love tron..

Growing up i saw alot of the old classics on a channel out of chicago that had one of those hosts that wore alice cooper like makeup...cannot remember his name now. After we moved to alabama and eventually got cable....it was Saturday Nightmares on USA as well as Captain USA\'s groovy movies...where i saw april fool\'s day, children shouldnt play with dead things, children of the corn, Alone in the dark, etc, etc....god i used to love those shows, but they are all a thing of the past now...

When I was 5 I stayed with my grandparents while my parents worked and she would always rent horror movies. One of the first ones I remember watching with her was Friday part 4.

Here\'s my best story....which my mom loves to bring up a lot....

When I was about 7 or 8, I was into mummies. My dad yelled to me that there was a movie about mummies on WGN. The movie: "Children Shouldn\'t Play With Dead Things." So, unknowing to my parents, I watched it. At the end, Orville comes from behind the door. For years after that, I had a crappy cardboard frankenstein on my and my little brother\'s bedroom door at Halloween. I was so freaked out, I made my mom cover the frankenstein with a blanket.....she still laughs to this day, since I have a whole second bedroom of horror and masks.
