Well growing up in Liverpool England, there was not much outlet for a horror film fan like myself, over here it was football (soccer) and not much else, my first mask was a werewolf mask my mother bought for me from a store in liverpool city centre.
I thought it was the coolest thing i had ever seen!, later i found the range of living nightmare makeups, i remember trying to apply this gelatine based makeup and it looking like crap and sticking everywhere than to my face!.
Over here Halloween is still frowned upon, i do my best though, with lifesize figures and as much gruesome crap as i can muster!

I remember when I was in 3rd grade I found this zombie Albert Einstein mask at Walgreens. I ended up raking my neighbors\' leaves to but it and a used suit at a second hand store. I tore the hell outta the suit and splashed it with the crappy Living Nightmare fake blood. I won the costume contest at school. That was my favorite costume as a kid.
