I\'m so disappointed in all of you. This new generation of kids has no concept of what a true gladiator is, and insists upon ushering in an era of pussies--the UFC is nothing if not a handful of over-the-top moves, and useless, visceral (seeming) action; there\'s no heart or true grit. Just a bunch of over-confiedent idiots slavering over there unfit oponents and themselves.
I know you all think UFC is a tougher, more kick-ass sport than, say, boxing, but I assure you that notion is farther from the truth than you\'ll ever know. And I especially want to point out that most, if not ALL, of the people who think otherwise have almost certainly never stepped into a ring or an arena themselves. And any fight they might claim to have been in wasn\'t a true fight: it was probably a bunch of wussy kids trying to inflict themselves on each other withoug knowing why or how, with miserable results that everyone lied to themselves about after the fact.

there is a self dicipline and conduct in boxing that UFC fighters will never achieve
UFC is great for about two seconds, until one guy gets scared and wrestles the other guy to the gound then they hump eachother for an hour until one taps out.
and don\'t get me wrong, I have watched A LOT of both boxing and ufc.
The main reason kids think ufc is better is because of the sorry state boxing is in right now.

The first time he fell was a feint to go for the legs. What I\'ve read on MMA weekly was that Shamrock slipped on where Kenny was bleeding earlier and they cleaned the matt. Shamrock probably couldn\'t defend himself after being hit by the first bomb Franklin threw. You get hit by one punch like that and you arn\'t doing shit. Look Coture/Liddell 2
After Chuck threw that knock out punch and Coture hit the ground he didn\'t defend himself from the 3 following. Just my 2 sense.
And in the battle of MMA vs. Boxing its hard for me because I love all kinds of fighting. I guess I lean towrards MMA more because I love seeing combonations of all fighting styles. I like the ground game *not when its a hump fest*, but seeing a dude take a not well rounded fighter to the ground and pounding the shit out of his face or making him tap out isn\'t pussy its pretty smart I say.
And for people saying UFC is full of over confident idiots is kind of retarded. They have world class fighters that have taken place in the events such as Royce Gracie representing the Gracie family which founded one of the most popular styles of Jiu-Jitsu in North America.

actually i grew up on boxing i would watch almost every fight that came on. i still watch boxing but not as much as i used too. im not a kid either. i may be young but no kid here. Ive also actually stepped into a boxing ring big man. Like i said i still watch boxing and love it, i follow up on it and everything but in the past few years boxing has gotten bad, real bad. The ESPN fighters are better than half the guys fighting on the big cards. And did you see Riddick Bowe\'s comeback? lol
The first time i watched UFC back in 98 i was hooked and have been following it ever since.

Fucking Kids..... yea thats probably the way to say it. I know myself that I love both the Ufc and boxing but both have their world class fighters. Look at Roycie Gracie and Randy Couture. "Some of Randy’s wrestling accomplishments are: four time World Team member, placed 8th in the 1997 World Championship in Poland, Pan American Games Champion, four time National Champion in Greco-Roman, three time All-American in college, two time runner-up at NCAA National Championships." To say there is no heart or true grit just doesn\'t make sense. And everyone is getting me wrong I love both boxing and the UFC.

Yeah, did anyone else happen to catch Riddick Bowe\'s \'comeback\'? That was ridiculous, and, what\'s more, he won. Do you know how bad the other guy had to be to lose to Bowe, whose waist was broader than his shoulders? HAH! Bowe knows bad roadwork.
Anyway, GBeninati nailed a good point: the main reason kids think UFC is better is because of the current, sorry state of boxing, especially the heavyweight division. America has no recognizable icons to associate with boxing. Nobody is talented and marketable enough to rise above the normal action and become identified within the sport. Not in America, anyway.
As for the MMA, how preposterous can you get? Mixing fighting styles is just a fast and easy way to free-style an artform that is, in it\'s purest state, more complex and difficult. And has everyone forgot that most martial arts are not practical at all in a real fight, much less boxing?? Even the people who practice them admit that; the benefits of these disiplines are, by their very nature, mostly mental, especially in the forms available in the U.S, which are watered-down to the point where they can barely be called martial anything.
Also, "...seeing a dude take a not well-rounded fighter to the ground and pounding the shit out of his face or making him tap out isn\'t pussy its pretty smart..." ? It\'s pretty ridiculous, and completely unnessecary. We\'re also referring to them inflicting this spectacle on some relatively average guy (yes, most UFC fighters aren\'t specially skilled or talented) who may or may not have an above-average pain tolerance. If you pit any one of them against a conditioned boxing athlete from ANY professional boxing weight class, that\'s it. No pithy one-liner, no decent takedown: just a two-second ordeal. You may as well pit the boxer against a football player with an extra tattoo.
Also, World Class? Throwing a name or two around, a la Gracie and Couture, doesn\'t make a sport "world class." So what if less-than-a-handful of decent, gentlemen fighters are found in league with 99% of blithering steroid-pinching boys? Hump Fest, Indeed.
