Heres some info you guys might like:

I originally tried to get the license from MGM a few years ago when i was producing toys. I fought hard to get it but lost it to Sota at the last minute. Its funny how for years no one cared but then at once we were both going for it.

I met personally with the chiodos two years ago and told them what happened. They were also upset that Sota didn\'t really do much with the license and the sculpts were eh. So we discussed doing larger scale stuff and producing a book for them (i have a friend who is a publisher) with the clown illustrations etc. I haven\'t been in contact with them recently but i plan on checking in again with them soon.
They expressed a lot of interest in all the projects i had going at the time. Personally now, I think they should go with sid show and do some really nice busts but i\'m not sure if sid show would go for it (not a big enough license maybe?). I have factory hookups and could get blank vinyl heads made, factory paint ups on these would be a lot and might not look as good as they want.

Maybe after the first of the year i\'ll give Stephen a call or an email and follow up and see where things are going with any new Klowns stuff. I even had an investor who wanted to fund the sequel at one point lol!!

Oh and they are well aware of the darkside clowns and other clowns stuff on ebay, they didn\'t seem to care that people were making it, it was good promotion for them and keeping the movie alive so i\'d be surprised if they served paul with a C & D letter.

Interesting stuff!!!

I\'d LOVE for there to be a book!!! That\'s a great idea...Every cult film needs one quality book for it.

That is an asewome collection !

Could mgm have served them with a C & D order ? Or do the chiodo\'s own all of the rights to the clown likenesses ?

Could have been MGM unless the Chiodos got the rights back.

Either way its a shame, i have shorty, slim, fatso, and potty 2 and they are some of my favorite pieces.

I\'ll try to get a hold of Stephen again next year and see if they are planning to do anything with the license.

Talk still persist to this day that a sequel could happen! I would like to see a SE DVD release for the film with some behind the scenes stuff like making the clowns and so on. I hope the new owners at SOTA release the second clown that was sculpted before Jerry left. sid show 12 inch clowns would also rock!
Smile

Did the chiodos not always own the rights to the clown likenesses ? I thought they had and still did.

Nope MGM has the license, thats why on their website they sell busts of other klowns not the actual ones from the movies. I went to them first for the license and they said nope you gotta go to mgm. What a pain that was too and a long process almost over a year to get "Sorry, we awarded the license to someone else".
