What bit (type & size) should I use with my dremel? Also, how do I go about getting the straps on with rivets? Should I even use rivets or the chicago screws that you mentioned (I never heard of em)? Sorry for the dumb questions, but I want to get it right the first time.

Just got back from Walmart...picked up some black, brown, & grey acrylic paint with a variety of foam brushes and a round brush for the vent hole areas. Got some crystal clear semi gloss as well. I\'ll give it a go later this evening.

As far as the part 7 mask goes, the only elastic straps they had were 1" white, so I\'m strapless at the moment. The fabrics associate said she didn\'t recall them having black straps at all, so I\'ll have to go to a fabric store to see what they have. I\'m still unsure about the rivets or screws though, or what type/size bit to use with the dremel.

Any additional info you guys can provide is so very much appreciated.

Okay, round 1 is complete...I mixed brown acrylic paint & water until it was thin enough to lightly sponge around the eyes, vent holes, & straps. I\'m using a mixture of techniques...I dabbed the wet sponge on a paper towel until it was nearly dry, then applied it to the mask. It seems to be working well. I\'ll wait until it dries, then spray on some clear coat...then attack it with some black paint in the same manner. I like the layer idea...gives it a nice touch and allows me to go slowly so I don\'t overdo it too quickly.

You really don\'t need to clearcoat until after you\'ve done all your layers. Most of the time, you need your surface to be somewhat rough to apply the washes. (Not too rough, but say... rubbed with some steel wool). Anyway, the clearcoat might make it too smooth to \'soak\' in. If you continue you apply clear coats between layers, at least rough up the surface a bit with some steel wool or 800 grit sandpaper. :wink:

I figured as much, so I was going light on the clear coat...

How am I doing??? I still have to fill in some of the vent holes so the white doesn\'t show.

Thanks, guys...I was so nervous about posting up pics...well, I guess anxious is the better word. I still need to go over some of the brown areas (on the sides) with black, but over all I can\'t believe it actually came out the way it did. I was honestly figuring that I would screw it up royally. My wife was very encouraging along the way, so that made me try even harder.

I can\'t wait to get the part 7 Hockey Mask Tommy is sending me along with Darkside Paul\'s Drowning Ghoul...oh man I\'m excited! I\'m just not sure what I should do with this VS Hockey Mask.
