Definitely one of the best horror movies of 2008 (the absolute best being the Swedish 'Let The Right One In').

I believe that 'Manhunter' is a better movie and I added the info about Brian Cox just as a general point. I was not comparing 'Silence' and 'Manhunter' as the same story.

I've never heard anyone say Manhunter was the better movie. I am one of the biggest fans of Hannibal without a doubt and thought that only Anthony Hopkins could bring him Justice. I didn't like Red Dragon as much as Silence or Hannibal but I thought it was definitely better than Manhunter. To each their own though, ha ha. I will say though, Manhunter was better than that disgraceful Hannibal Rising.
