The burlap strengthens the mold but is not necessairly needed. If you use enough plaster and make the mold thick enough all around, then you don\'t need the burlap although it wouldn\'t hurt. The burlap is dipped in plaster as little strips and then placed all around the mask after some plaster has been built up off the surface.

if u dont know things like this then u dont need to be making anything..i suggest u get some books and vids first it will save u money in the end as well as time..but burlap is needed or hemp to make it stronger and to keep it from breaking as easy if dropped..u could make the mold thicker but thats alot of plaster and it will be really heavy..if u making the master mold i stronger urge u to use it

Ok cool im gonna just go with out the burlap and just mold it alot. thx man. i finnally finished my part 2 jason sculpture toned it down fixed everything and i really want to get it molded.

Just be extra careful with it then and keep it away from high places! When not using it, place the mold in a milk crate or something.
