Modeling Clay Advice Needed - Martoch - 04-16-2006

Hey guys!
Big Grin

After creating our first mask together, my 10 year old and I have decided that we\'d like to get some modeling clay. We don\'t need any high quality super duper clay...just some good basic beginner clay that is forgiving, meaning it is fairly soft and doesn\'t try too quickly so we can fix our mistakes.

Can you guys recommend any for us? Any links to purchase the clay online would be great as well.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

I would buy the 25 pound wed clay, Easier to work with, so ive heard.

Please for the love of god don\'t buy that clay. In all honesty anyone who knows how to sculpture will tell you how horrible that shit is to work with, and these are seasoned veterans I\'m talking about. If you want an easy to work with clay get "le beau touche" It\'s made by Chavant, its got the feel of a water based clay but its an oil based product, so it will never dry out.
You can find it at most art stores or google it if you want to buy it online.

Were you referring to the MM clay or WED?

I was talking about the monster makers oil clay. Colt45 was right on the money with the wed, great stuff.

I probably should have specified that, but I\'ve had a few to drink tonight

I thought so, but since it followed his WED comment, I wasnt sure. Smile

I tried out both Wed and Roma on my first sculpture and really took to the Wed clay. I couldn\'t really use the oil based roma with the sulphur(?) odor it produced when heated indoors. Too cold in the garage to sculpture out there either.

I have never tried it but i have always heard good things about the wed clay, get yourself some off that, and good luck with it, have fun and take it easy, when you first start out its frustrating to try and get your hands to shape what you can see in your minds eye, but keep at it and you\'ll get there!
