Free Computer Software - Martoch - 09-22-2006 Hey guys, just thought I would post up some good, free software…unless I specify otherwise, I have personally used each one. I only have a little time, but I’ll update this thread from time to time. This should be enough to get most of you started…make sure you run the junk file removal programs BEFORE running any antivirus/antispyware programs…it will reduce scanning time and may actually remove malware located in temporary locations. Those of you using Windows 98, be sure to read the system requirements as some of these require Windows 2000 & higher. Please let me know if any of the links are broken. Enjoy! Antivirus: Avast: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html or AVG: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 NOTE: If you are currently running an Antivirus, uninstall it before installing one of these. Free Computer Software - Mutilated - 09-24-2006 I took your advice and uninstalled my SBC yahoo browser and went with firefox. There\'s a few things about firefox I don\'t like but it hasn\'t crashed on me once so i\'m cool with it! Thanks a ton man. Free Computer Software - Martoch - 09-24-2006 What don\'t you like about it? Don\'t forget to check out the MANY extensions of Firefox...some really cool ones. Stuff like that, I also don\'t like how they wont let me make a group for my tabs instead of having to make a new group everytime I get on. Passwords issue... Click tools--options--privacy--passwords tab--uncheck \'remember passwords\' box. Tabs issue... Download tab mix plus: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1122/ You can specify tab options with it. This will give you the option to save your tabs when you close Firefox and restore them when you reopen it. Free Computer Software - Mutilated - 09-24-2006 Thanks a ton man! That saves me alot of trouble. Free Computer Software - Martoch - 09-24-2006 No problem! Firefox will even remember your open tabs if it crashes or your system crashes or the power goes out, etc...good stuff! Free Computer Software - Martoch - 05-11-2007 Just a little bump for those who haven't seen this already... |
