There is someone in an anonymous blog about Mike Hopkins from FOD.They seem to think there is some big conspiracy with the moderators. That couldn't be further from the truth.Now I didn't really care all that much until my name was dragged through the mud. I was called a well known FOD fanboy? How in the hell is that said about me???? I HAVE NO INTEREST IN MIKE OR HIS BUSINESS. HE'S NOT A FRIEND...JUST A PERSON I MET ONCE IN 2005. HE GAVE ME A MOD SPOT ON HIS WEBSITE RANDOMLY IN AN IM CONVERSATION. NOTHING MORE. I don't even necessarily like Mike. If you REALLY knew me as a person you'd know this!HE RIPPED OFF A BEST FRIEND OF MINE JONL. When I saw my name posted I honestly lost it. No one has the freakin balls to contact me first..they just make wild claims!!!I am extremely angry. I have no interest in being involved in this bull shit!!I want this heard LOUD AND CLEAR..I am not protecting anyone on this forum! We the moderators, want this situation with Mike to be resolved just like another other shit stain on the hobby.D

I saw that blog as well...and left a comment with similar feelings as my name was mentioned as well. Apparently this person thinks that because I designed Mike's original site that I am protecting him by locking threads. He thinks that us mods are "FOD fanboys" and are trying to protect Mike. Although I have no problem with Mike personally, I am <u>not </u> (nor is anyone else) treating him any different than anyone else. If he has wronged people, than it's his responsibility to make it right.Our main priority as moderators is to keep the board running smoothly. If threads are deleted, locked, etc it's because they were either getting out of hand or the point has been made and doesn't require additional posts. If people have problems with Mike or other memebrs and want to post about it on other forums or blogs, I don't really care. But to start calling out people as if there was some kind of conspiracy, that is slanderous.

I just want to say that I'm friend's with Dan and he's a genuinely good person. You'd be hard pressed to find someone as cool and down to earth as Dan. I think calling him out in an anonymous blog was really uncalled for. Dan is a mod here on NIGHTOWL and it's his duty to make sure things don't get out of hand on the message boards. Believe me, if Dan thought something wasn't right, he wouldn't go along with it. Anyhoo, I'll jump off my little soap box for now. I just wanted to defend my friend. Its a touchy situation for sure. On the one hand sellers like Mike and others are encouraged and allowed to promote their products in the classifieds. But if problems arise customers are told "use pms's and emails" and keep it off the boards. Don't you think customers have tried that already? I've never dealt with Mike but I've noticed how sometimes the term "bashing" seems to be considered synonomous with criticisms and valid complaints. Perhaps the classifieds are a bad idea if consumers aren't allowed to seek help from the site where they made the purchase.......................Larry

Why not just have one post about it by someone representing everyone pissed off...link it to a blog like the one recently made...and people can comment there...This place is supposed to be for fun discussion....Also, imagine being a new collector coming to NIGHTOWL and seeing all these threads about people getting ripped off. If you didn't know any better, you would just assume they were referring to NIGHTOWL productions! Does that make any sense?

I agree and sympathize with a lot of what is in that blog(not all of it, but a lot). I do want to address one thing, though:The Host claims that we mods lock Mike's posts because we buy from him. Well, I have locked or deleted several of the posts about Mike(as well as other makers) and I have never bought anything from Mike. I don't like to see people ripped off, but when there are threads about makers ripping people off on NIGHTOWL's forums, that reflects badly on the mask community as a whole. Meaning, if a potential NIGHTOWL customer comes to the boards and reads all this bullshit, they may have second thoughts about ordering from NIGHTOWL simply because it is a mask maker. We're mods because we look out for Justin's business online, and that is exactly what we are doing by locking or deleting these threads. Should bogus makers be brought to light? Yes. I don't like seeing people get ripped off...I know how much $200 is and I know what it's like to feel like you pissed it away on a bum deal. But it cannot reflect badly on Justin's business or his site. Most of our members are members of other mask boards that aren't affiliated with a certain mask maker. Take your complaints there, that's all we're asking. Scammers will be weeded out of the hobby. We mods aren't out to get you or to protect anyone.Oh, yeah, and... "I can see that you guys want to protect Justin, however this situation has nothing to do with him, this is about Mike." Then keep it off Justin's fucking board.

Guys what happened to this hobby?? We need to do something as a team to resolve this. Justin knows I love him to death and I would never want to say anything out of line on his boards or do anything to disrupt his business. Ergo "the host" does produce valid points on his blog in that the mod's say this is Justin's place of business not to bring up Mike on the boards however, Mike has conducted his business on this board and puts links up to things for sale on this board just the same. I am not bashing Mike or any fellow NIGHTOWLers, just reaching out for advice as I am really upset as are a lot of other customers of Mike's and there is apparently no other way of reaching him. I am out hundreds of dollars because I gave it to someone that I trusted. Mike claims he shipped half my order months back, but when I asked him for tracking or any sort of proof of shipment he was unable to produce anything.... Guys this has to stop and once and for all be amicably resolved. Mods please help. I wish it didn't have to come to this, I love Mike's work and wish it was sitting alongside the rest of my collection...Thanks for your time and understanding-Ken
