Tips For Casting Master Copies/recasts Ect. - killnskin - 06-17-2008 hey. I just made a master copy from a two peice mold using por-a-mold. it came out good, but I'm having trouble keeping it from flexing while trying to apply multiple layers of plaster. If I use just too much pressure the thinner detail coat of plaster cracks and I can't tell until I've finished the mold and get to look inside. I've got the copy stuffed, but I'd like to be able to make the copy temporatily rigid while casting, or at least more rigid. anyone have a good method? I'[ve made two crap molds so far. Thanks, Andrew Tips For Casting Master Copies/recasts Ect. - ColdBlooded Killer - 06-17-2008 If your splash coat is done right, the other layers shouldn't matter. The first one is the one that is important of course. Make sure it's hardening, and starting to heat up before you do another coat.If you still have problems, you can stuff the master copy with bags, or try filling it with wed clay or something like that. |
