Hey guys, just wonderin if there are any Nascar fans here? Looks like I'm getting tickets to the September race in Loudon NH for my birthday so I'm hoping someone can tell me what to expect at a race.. What kinda stuff is there to do before the race starts, stuff like that..

I'm probably like an hour or two from there but have never been interested in that. My favorite driver is Ricky Bobby lol

lolWell I'm about 9 hours I figure, but hell if I'm gettin tickets for free I've got 3 months to come up with the gas money.. plus the gas gets a bit cheaper once I cross the border.. probably not much though...

The bulk of my span of races stretch from '98 to '04, so I haven't been to a race in awhile, but if nothing has changed...expect this:1) An obnoxiously long walk from your car to the race track.2) Outside the track and before the race: a few race/ride simulators, a possible minor tent theater showcasing race documentaries, a few staged stock cars (not actually race-used) that are used for photo opportunities at $10 a polaroid, nothing short of a mini-mall of perfectly parked NASCAR team merchandise trailers selling wildly priced swag of every driver imaginable (and I mean <i>every</i> driver), a few drivers potentially at the merchandise trailers - if you show up early enough, PEPSI taste tests, free handouts/ads every twenty feet, and a surprising number of booths selling massive Turkey legs. Yes, I said turkey legs. And if this food item isn't normal for you to see people eat in public, I highly suggest you try it. For if nothing else, you get a chance to walk around eating darkened/cooked flesh off a huge bone that looks reminiscent out of a <i>Flintstones</i> cartoon.3) A race with waaaay too little cautions and waaaay too many green flag pit stops.4) An obnoxiously long wait to leave the parking lot.Hope that sums it up for you. Hope you enjoy the race!Go Junior!

mmmm Bedrock turkey legs.. sounds good. JR Nation all the way! I've heard that all the drivers are required to be at their merchandise trailer for a certain amount of time but it's highly unlikely I'd manage to catch Jr at his.. I didn't know where these trailers were, cool to hear there is alot going on outside the track. I think I'll be getting there Saturday but not going to the Nationwide race, maybe just find a tailgate party or something.. Also thinking about a pitpass. But $100 seems alot and I'm not sure what you actually get out of it. If you could see the cars up close or possibly the drivers it;d be worth every cent though..

Thats f**king sweet bro, id love to go, its a long drive though and there are many tracks along the way, im a huge Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvic fan, i literally mean i eat, sleep, and breath nascar. My shop is a mixture of horror and nascar items, pretty wierd looking actualy, but what the hell i love them both soooooo much, lol!!!! Im sure you can expect a good time, theres nothing like the smell of gas and rubber, along with the sound of screaming horsepower, im a regular at our local track and if you got any around you bro id check em out, i love local tracks, they are so much easier in and out and just as much fun in my opinion!!! I believe Stainboy covered it well as far as what to expect, and like he said try the turkey legs, they are the cotton candy of nascar tracks!!!!!! VERY GOOD YUMYUM!!!!

I'm alright with Nascar, as it's racing, but I'm much more of an F1/Indycar fan. I've taken in the Brickyard once, a few Champcar races at Elkhart Lake, and the Indy 500 this year.I don't mind the racing/drivers of Nascar as much as I mind the sanctioning body. Well and the fact it's turned ito a spec series just like Indycar.I long for the days of engines and cars that were rewarded for performing ahead of everyone else. It might as well be go-karts now. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Sad\" border=\"0\" alt=\"sad.gif\" />
