New Blood Remake Costume - sirbrad - 08-30-2008

OK well the camera drowns out most of the details, and taking pics with a timer was an absolute bitch. Especially wearing those gloves and trying to use the tiny buttons, and keep the camera straight blindly with no preview. But I have years and years of practice, so it turned out very well considering the circumstances. I had to go all by feel without my glasses too. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"biggrin.gif\" /> I was not going to post pics until Halloween, but I tried it all on because it is about 99% finished, so I figured why not take some pics if possible to see how it looks. It was very difficult running back for the timer, and some of the parts got out of place doing so, and the pants came down slightly because I did not have the belt on, so they are sagging some. But this should give an idea. I am VERY happy with how it turned out overall and I thought Kane Hodder was in my room when I looked in the mirror. I still need to weather and paint the lower sleeves some, and touch up some cracks in the paint from areas that got bent some etc. I also did not wear my black boots in this pic. But like I said the lighting and lower-end camera will not show all the details anyway, and I will get better pics when I make my life-sized display, and at parades in the daytime with a better camera and lighting.I took some pics with the weathered overgloves I made and some without. I also latexed in parts on the back of the legs/calve, made latex parts for the undershirt on the sleeves, cut out Rubie's shins and added velcro, latexed and made parts on a pair of shorts to show through the thighs, attached my gore chest with velcro to the Rubie's backbone to make a vest, cut out a Rubie's undermask to make a hood as pictured in another thread, weathered a black plastic chain to look dirty/rusty, weathered the olive green pants/shirt with a base black acrylic paint and brown on top, and then painted all the parts with brown, black highlighting, watered down brown, and mod podge to give all the flesh areas and mask a wet charred consistent look. Hockey mask is from Crash and really makes this costume shine! Some areas are hot but pretty comfortable overall. I made hidden ventilation holes in the mask as that is the hottest area. I repainted the Rubie's backbone to look more decayed, wet, and burnt looking, and replaced the blood areas with brown mixed with black paint, and watered down brown and mod podge, and it looks fantastic!I also painted my gore chest to match it. I made this costume modeled after the Cult Classics Jason figure loosely, and the shirt cuts, especially along the bottom, match almost exactly with my own personal touch ups. I also modeled the ribs and everything else off of the figure and movie, and added my own here and there. Will post close-ups later on maybe. But anyway, now on with the pics. Like I said will get better ones in daylight hopefully and up close on my lifesized with the Vengeance. That should be sick! I was inspired by Wickedbeard darth-sypolt at Frightstuff. <a href=\"http://www.frightstuff.com/frightforum/viewtopic.php?t=1381&sid=9cc9a3d7c55097efe4d8cafafb1e7123\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.frightstuff.com/frightforum/vie...4d8cafafb1e7123</a> and Pics to follow...<img src=\"http://www.amoktime.com/images/neca/cult6b.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />

I wanted to keep more of the flesh covered in the arms and thighs, and have cuts and strands, but the material bunched up and concealed too much flesh for the work I did; and how hot it is to wear. So I cut out and weatherd the fabric to show as much as possible. Figured if I am going to have it I may as well show it! <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Smile\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /> Also this is a bitch to get on and off, and the shirt was weathered up to a point that it is barely wearable to last, and one wrong move it will rip apart. You have to move very carefully in this costume, something I am used to lol. For a display I would have added even more cuts and rips, and possibly glued them into the flesh, I may make one someday when I get time and more clothes. But displays do not have to "move," so weathering them is easy.

Kickass work man,the only thing I would try is to use some shoulder padding to make you a bit more hulking. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" /> Other then that, its awesome.

However in person I am pretty bulky, but a combination of bulk and tone. One great thing is that my size allows me to play both Freddy and Jason. Not too big not too small. (5'10" 180-195lbs depending on time of year) <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Smile\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /> I just wish I had a good camera to capture the details better, and outside. But I will be getting a disposable one on a disk around Halloween. Next up is "Jason Lives" which is waiting on a maggot head hood, but other than that finished mostly. A LOT easier to get off and on too, and take pics lol.I need to retain mobility and less heat as possible as I am a costumer, but I may bulk up my mannequin some when I do the life-sized. Still some touch ups to do and wet marks around some hole areas. I held off on the blood mostly this time, as I wanted to retain a corpse look. I added some on the gloves though, and was going to add some on the hands too but did not want to ruin the look lol. But I may add some "victim's blood here and there with red gloss. The axe really makes this costume scary as well, and should even look great with my JC H20 coming. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Smile\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /> Jason used one in part 7 as well on the guy at the fridge.

Oh yeah no eye mesh either, that is natural. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Smile\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /> The mask angle and the undermask creates enough shadow that mesh is not needed, especially in low-medium light. For the overgloves I bought a cheap pair of soft brown gloves and painted them yellow. The brown comes through for natural weathering, and they are more yellow now. Will add some black and some red for blood later. The better leather ones are too rigid and small to fit the Jaon hand into easily, and are too tight. They weathered up well for my part 6 however.I may also add some flesh to the sides of the fingers, and was going to cover up some with some flesh, but the gloves are there anyway. I may make more in the future using different methods and play around with it some. I used a think coat of latex on the bottoms and painted them dark brown, as I did not want them too thick so I can hold weapons etc.
