Does Anyone Here Own A Propshop Knife? - The Death Curse - 11-03-2008
I'm just curious...Has anyone here plunked down the (admittedly, quite a bit of) cash for one of PropShop's knives? They look positively amazing in the site's pictures. The blade's slightly harsh taper carries a sort of "evil" look to it, like the H1 knife had. I've scoped 2 or 3 on Ebay over the past few months, but the guy(s) at PropShop always use the same set of prototype pictures to sell each knife. On eBay I had bought an original Lamson knife out of Halloween season for $35.Most people do not put " Myers " or " Halloween " in the name when they sell these vintage knives and you just have to watch for listings.Why buy a replica when you can have the real thing.

I'd go into detail with that argument, but nobody here is likely to push aside the idea because so many people have blindly accepted it...Also, I have looked on Ebay many times. I've even managed to snag 2 very nice, real knives from Ebay for decent prices. I'm just not feeling satisfied with what I've found so far. Every TRULY "H1-esque" knife I've seen on Ebay sells for at least $180+, and I'm not prepared to shell out that kind of money on a beautifully-kept vintage kitchen knife that I don't even plan to use properly. Propshop's is a 100 dollers.Same with most of their stuff.I got lucky and got my Propshop clown mask for 50 and not for a 100.And I think he want's a H9 knife, the Lamson was not used in H9, I forgot the brand name but I'll reply back when I got the knife brand.

LOL, I'm pretty sure Ryan wants the H1 replica from the Prop Shop.It's not really based on a Lamson anyway, as you can tell by the handle tip.A lot of rumors have circulated that the Lamson was used at some point in HalloweeN 1 - even told by Carpenter and Hill in the pastBut who really knows the truth? The knife that Laurie holds looks more like a Dexter or Henckels to be honest.I think as long as you pick up something around 17-18" w/ a hilt and similar handle... you have a nice accurate prop.

I've never once seen a Lamson in all my collecting years that had a handle even *close* to the H1 knife design. And there isn't that much variation in the old, larger, hand-forged Lamson designs, so I've pretty much ruled them out as the "H1 knife" entirely. I don't know where you heard that bit about Carpenter and Hill giving "confirmation" to the Lamson, but I'd love to hear more about that.Dexter and Henckels are both very possible brands for the H1 knife, in my opinion.
