When a director films a movie, you want to see what was originally intended. Paramount intentionally fucked this movie again! What amazes me is that Peter Bracke, Mr. Friday the 13th never noticed this on his review from the Blu-ray and DVD 2 weeks ago. Same as Peter didn't notice on the Anchor Bay Halloween DVD 'blue filter' debacle until it was brought to his attention by Don May.

Wasn't the old R2 and 3 uncut also cropped? You know WB released those so maybe it is an uncut transfer problem and not Paramount? Maybe that was the transfer they had? Maybe the uncut transfer was cropped to that? But, I a sure the R2 and 3 uncut (that were released years) ago has the same cropping.

I believe that Paramount used the international uncut print which also has the cropping problem. The international uncut version was released in HK a couple years back, but I held off from importing it, waiting for it to be released here... looks like it's the same print. It is only now remastered to R1 DVD and Blu-Ray.

Hummm, I’ll be checking my Japan Unedited Laserdisc of this then. I don’t remember it being cropped but the sound is very tinty due to the film being sped up during the transfer. On a side note about this uncut laserdisc; it was me purchasing the FIRST Japan import version of this title that started the whole hoopla. Don May, Jr., who wrote the article for Video Watchdog managed a Laser Disc Store and did their ordering used my laserdisc. I purchased the disc because it had the Warner Brothers Lego, a different cover and the running time was 1 or 2 minutes shorter than the American version. Little did we know what was inside! When we found out about the footage we contacted Tom Savini and asked if he knew of this. He did not and he couldn’t believe what we were telling him. We sent him a copy and he called Don to thank him and tell him that he thought this footage was gone forever. After the article made its way out to people and they started contacting Laserdisc Stores to see if they could get them, the overseas suppliers ran out of product in under 1 month. That disc was out for at least 1 month without any imports of this title, until mine.A weird, wacky but true piece of history right there.

Ok, on laserdisc they opened the gate full so I can see even more picture than the DVDs. Don May just brought up a great point. The Friday the 13th foreign DVD’s that people are talking about are prints from 4 years ago, before they were doing hi-definition transfers. Where did Paramount get this print and did they go by what they saw on those DVD’s to make the transfer? (Improper adjustments.)
