Hockey Mask Mask Painting? - ullilein - 03-03-2009

Hey guys,So I've gathered that acrylic paint is the way to go when it comes to painting a hockey mask. I do not have air brushes but have looked into acrylic spray paint. Do you guys think this will work? I would like to use the spray paint to do the base color and clear coat. Thanks!

If you won't be using an airbrush, the best way to go about the base coat is using Krylon spray paint. Just choose a color that looks good to you (I really like Ivory, but there are many colors to choose). It really just comes down to personal preference. Just because someone says one color is screen accurate it may not look right to you. Just go with the color you like, since it will be displayed in your home.

As for the chevrons I'm going to create a stencil and spray that as well. Thanks!

i don't use airbrushes at all . i start off with an Almond color spray for the base and then just use the acrylic paints with brushes to get the look i want . as for the tri's , well i'm not sure how most people here do them but i just use tape for my outlines and paint inside and once the paint is dry then i pull the tape off with clean edges . mike,

Same here. I never really saw the use of an airbrush except for mixing custom colors, and to me the ability to mix colors is not quite worth the $150+. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" /> Rattlecan will suit me just fine.
