Sculpting Armature - TheMagnificentVoid - 11-06-2009 I noticed Monster Makers has changed their sculpting armature. Not sure I like the no-shoulders approach as a mask sculpture gets so top heavy as it is let alone this new design making it easier to get knocked over. Anyone carrying their work from one place to another knows what I am talking about here.Anyone have recommendations on this armature or any other current armatures out there? While I'm waiting on the money mentioned in my Dream Creeper thread I figured I might as well get to work on my second project. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" /> And no, THIS one wont be taking as long as Dream Creeper. lol Remember, I had to go from "beginner" to "advanced" sculpting all in one project for D. C. Sculpting Armature - Jluck - 11-06-2009 There is the CFX armature, i no it's suppose to be a larger one to allow for shrinkage w/o having to build up so much clay for wearable stuff. At least that's what the company told me when i inquired about it. Here is the link.<a href=\"http://www.compositeeffects.com/forms01.htm\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.compositeeffects.com/forms01.htm</a>~Jonny Sculpting Armature - psychosocial91 - 11-06-2009 I got mine from cfx, even though it says single use I've had it for about a year, the only thing was I ordered a male head and hot a female so make sure you really specify! Sculpting Armature - JigSaw - 11-06-2009 If you want a good quality sculpting head to use over and over, and that is "large to allow shrinkage" get the armature head, not the display head. The display heads are probably smaller because it's meant for putting a silicone mask over it. Sculpting Armature - TheMagnificentVoid - 11-06-2009 Thanks for the info guys. Much appreciated. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"biggrin.gif\" /> Sculpting Armature - carter1010 - 11-07-2009 My suggestion is to not waste your money on an armature. Build one yourself. It may be different based on how you sculpt, but after some experimentation I have decided I like to hollow out the eyes almost like a skull, roll up some clay into perfect balls, insert them like real eyes, and then use small flat pieces of clay as eyelids. I also, depending on the piece may want to go deeper into the cheekbone area, or where ever. You get the idea. Also, I have yet to find an armature that is big enough to really help when making a wearable piece. I have the big joe from CFX, but I still use a ton of clay to get it to where its a good size to wear. Once again, someone else may have a better suggestions, but a wood base with a pipe and some aluminum foil works very well and is way cheaper. Sculpting Armature - psychosocial91 - 11-07-2009 I've seen quite a few people use wire armatures as well if you're going to go that route... |
