Hdtv As Pc Monitor? - auzorann - 01-24-2010

does anyone use an LCD HDTV as their PC monitor? i'm looking to get a 32" 1080p to replace my 19" monitor. i keep reading that 720p would look just as good because of the distance from the TV.if you're 10 feet or less they say 720p looks just as good as 1080p but over 10 feet and you start to notice the difference.currently i sit about 3 feet away from my 19" and the resolution i use is 1440x900. going to 720p would be a drop in resolution but i would be gaining a lot of viewing area. so that's why i think 1080p may be better.so if anyone has any info or suggestions i'd love to hear them.

I am pretty sure the only thing 1080p is good for is to watch blu ray discs.

Yeah it looks great, I know when I bought my HD it gave me the cord to plug it into my computer.

I use a 19" HDTV as an editing monitor (for playback) and it's fine. You don't need 1080- I think 720/1080 looks better from a distance than close up sometimes. I just use an HDMI output cord.

I personally do not like to use my TV as a monitor as I prefer very high resolutions. if you are using a lower resolution on your computer you will be fine but if you are cranking a high res you may not be happy.
