Mask Help - SauronTD - 01-25-2010 I got one of these masks today and I have to say its pretty much garbage. Its full of air holes, several go all the way through the latex. Its paper thin making displaying a Hockey Mask on it impossible. The paint work is good is spots and bad in others. For example, the left eye isnt really painted its the same color as the rest of the face, just with a brown dot painted on it and the glue on the hair is very tacky. Im trying to get a refund from him but I dont know if I'll be able to. So if I cant does anybody know how to make it better? Is there anyway to thicken the mask? If not would foam filling work, or because of the air bubbles would it just rip the mask? Repainting it is not that hard, I just want to use it as a display peice. Any help out there? Mask Help - Megatron - 01-25-2010 any pics of your mask?.....well foam filling will make putting on a hockey mask much easier....or you can just use plastic shopping bags to stuff it... I've got it packed full of fiber fill right now and its holding the shape a lot better. The sculpt is very good and I'd like to make this mask work! Maybe he can offer me a partial refund and I can put that into improving it. It may take a few cans. When I did one of my flimsy masks, I sprayed a little in the bottom (if the mask was upside-down) and waited for it to become rigid and made sure it formed right. When it set a bit I used newspaper and formed a "bowl" to set the crown of the head in. When that dried I sprayed more in and repeated it about 7 times. If you do it yourself make sure the mask is formed right or you will have a permanently odd-shaped head....or you can have Lubatti do it. Mask Help - ullilein - 01-26-2010 Hey man,I also have this mask. I don't have air holes but it is paper thin and was a bit disappointed. I was able to display mine with a hockey mask by filling it with the filling it came with plus plastic bags. I then had to mount it on a mannequin torso to support the shoulders. It's a great sculpt but is being pulled WAY to thin. I think I have an extra torso lying around you can have if you pay shipping. Not trying to steal your thread but here is mine with a Hockey Mask on it.http://forums.NIGHTOWLpro.com/index.php?sh...mp;#entry346230 |
