How To Weather/darken Copper? - Lewis Tully - 11-22-2004

I am going to start on my glove this holiday weekend, and I was wondering what chemicals people use to darken their glove, and where can I get some? I tried the literal method of burning the copper with a lighter, but that didn\'t work out as well as I wanted it to. Take care!!!

acid can darken the copper. Honestly, most glove makers, (even the most expensive Wink ) just paint the metal. Painting methods vary of course. Personally I bake mine like a car. Seems to make the paint tougher and a little more resilient to chipping.

What color are you looking for? If you just want \'dark\' copper, just leave the copper outside for a week, it\'ll darken up.
