Honestly, most glove makers, (even the most expensive ) just paint the metal. Painting methods vary of course. Personally I bake mine like a car. Seems to make the paint tougher and a little more resilient to chipping. What color are you looking for? If you just want \'dark\' copper, just leave the copper outside for a week, it\'ll darken up.
