Dmc Part 7 Latex Mask - thekreator - 04-27-2010

While I'm finishing the last little bits of my New Nightmare Glove prototype before starting to build a few more, I figured it would be fun to start acquiring parts to do a full 1:1 Part 7 Freddy display. The mask arrived last week and I set up a simple display bust with it for now. Really impressed with the quality of this mask. Thick latex and pretty decent paint job. Also fits me perfectly, unlike the Part 5 mask, but I dont intend on wearing this one. (After wearing silicone, latex just isn't the same. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Smile\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /> )Some small details don't show up in the photos as well, but there's a hint of spots and veins which really bring it to life.

nice looking mask but never really understood the eye thing

Yeah, the eyes are kind of strange in that the pupil gives you very limited visibility. It does keep an interesting expression on the face, but I think for my display, I will trim out the eyes and replace with some nice glass eyes.Overall I'm quite pleased with this mask. I did ask for it to be uncut with no slit up the back, but I guess he doesn't offer them that way. Luckily, the cut is very clean, and I can probably seal it up carefully with some latex or rubber cement depending on how I build the body for the display.Need to get some leather pants and the knee high boots. I have a leather trenchcoat, but the movie was more of a soft wool. Might be able to find something similar at a second-hand store and can sew in the red/green strips on the inside. The sweater in this film was also unique, in that the red stripes were a different fabric from the green, and slightly raised as if they were added onto a green sweater/knit turtleneck separately.

When I bought mine, DMC was not putting slits in, and even included notes with masks stating that this was because so many collectors wanted to use them for display only. So much for that I guess...Good luck replicating the sweater. It will be difficult to do accurately, since as you note it was knit from two different materials. I believe Susan at Custom Sweaters has experience doing one like it, from two materials (ask her about the one she did for a horror museum), but it may not have had the inverted color pattern, full turtleneck, etc. I would love to see someone replicate this sweater accurately.

I love New Nightmare pics! That is one fine diplay you've got. I actually had Susan at Custom sweaters create a New Nightmare sweater for me. I sent her tons of reference materials and color samples to make sure it would be 100% accurate. She actually knitted it in two different types of yarn the green being acrylic and the red being wool to give the red that raised effect. I would post some pics of it but right now I have a guy making the trench coat for me and he has my sweater so that he can match the stripe colors for the stripes lining the trench coat. Once I get it all together I will have to post some pics.
