Scream Mask Info - Last_of_the_Brunnen-G - 09-27-2010 Can someone specify for me, the original ghost face masks had the name "fun world" stamped on them and they also glowed in the dark, correct? I bought one years ago, probably a Halloween or two before the first Scream movie ever came out. I kind of regret it now, due to some sentimental value, so I'm hoping to get another one. I've noticed the new one's hoods are a different material as is the fabric in the eyes than the one I had. Scream Mask Info - The Death Curse - 09-27-2010 The originals did have "FUN WORLD DIV" stamped behind the chin. I'm not sure if they all glowed, but most of them DID possess a thicker cloth, t-shirt-like material for their hoods. The eye mesh was thicker/darker, too. Each mask was hand-trimmed and hand-painted, so no two copies looked exactly alike. There were at least 2 or 3 different mold designs used for that ghost(face) mask in particular, with the most desirable of them having a small, circular indention near the bottom of the mouth opening. That style of production mold also produced the screen-used masks in the first Scream. If you are looking to find an original "Fantastic Faces" or "Fearsome Faces" release from the early 90s (before Scream hit), prepare to pay STUPID money. People are charging - and offering; I've seen it - as much as $275 for those things now. My advice to you is to ask around locally...See if anyone else has had one they've stored away or forgotten about. The internet in general has already been scoured by collectors and Ebay is hopeless, unless you like spending megabucks. Cheers, Ryan Scream Mask Info - Last_of_the_Brunnen-G - 09-27-2010 Thanks for the info man. I wish I;d held onto mine, now I can't even recall if it said fun world or easter on it. Your best bet is to hit up yard sales, flee markets, and check your local craigslist. If you wanted an original Fantastic Faces mask a year or so ago, you could have gotten it for 15-20 bucks. Now, because of the new flick coming out, there is a huge demand for these things. I saw one on ebay yesterday go for a couple hundred bucks, and I'm pretty CERTAIN it was just the Walmart version that was just released. It really is crazy what these things go for nowadays. Not to mention most of us here probably had an original at one point or another. I doubt we all paid more then $10 a peice, too! Scream Mask Info - Last_of_the_Brunnen-G - 09-27-2010 Thanks. I went ahead and checked my local craigslist, and unfortunately there are no flea markets near me. I'll see about garage and yard sales. Any chance I could get some of you guys to check locally as well? Scream Mask Info - monteburns - 09-28-2010 I have one that I would have traded for a Hannibal bust. Scream Mask Info - b47 - 09-28-2010 I think the one that came after scream are very good... I own two of them and they look pretty accurate to me even if they do not have the "Funworld" tag under the chin. You can get those for about 20 bucks instead of 275. I'm very happy with mine even if its not the one by Funworld. |
