The Ultimate Part 8 Maskstand - EverythingJason - 02-01-2005

Hi guys and gals,
long time no pictures, for me anyways. The reason being is that for the last three months I have been saving some extra cash, doing alot (and I mean alot!!!) research, perfecting some of my painting skills etc. Anyway, as some of you know I am like the biggest part 8 fan out there and one night I had this vision that I needed a lifesize part 8 Jason bust without spending way too much dough and with the involvement of the lesser known maskmakers. Well the first point was relatively easy, but the second was a little harder to accomplish. After checking what was available to me in regards to the mask market I was fairly dissappointed actually, so I had to go more or less custom. First on the agenda was the part 8 undermask, which I kinda lucked into when my man Aaron released the Manhattan Muppet, just in time!!!! I loved it from the first moment on. Now that I had the undermask I needed the bodyparts to go along with it and again I lucked out when I hooked up with a good buddy of mine named Colby. He offered to make me a COMPLETE set of all parts needed for a part 8 suit and left them blank for me to paint to match the mask. The quality was outstanding and after 9 layers of different colors later my bodyparts emerged top notch quality. Next I needed a Hockeymask and again I found help from another good friend of mine and one hell of an artist named Wheelspin from the UK. God did he deliver when he sent me my Part 8 mask. This thing is so incredibly amazing, you can see soooo much detail in the mask surface that can not be accomplished a second time. Unbelievable!!!

The hardest task was the whole suit as I wanted him to look extremely mean and nasty. This suit that I made features 16 different layers of detailing with airbrush, drybrushing and fine brushes and took me forever and a day to get it the way I wanted it. I even found the exact same kind of "wetsuit" (don\'t even ask where I found it) that you can see in the anker scene where Jason comes out of the water to finish the suit up. I build a full size mannequin layered with soft foam for the body. This thing is fully poseable and stands completely on his own without support. I added a display bust made out of solid aged wood to finish it all off. This beast stands over 6 feet tall in my collection room and believe it or not cost me 308.97 US dollars total. Enough talk, here are the pics. Thanks to the guys that helped me make this project a reality, you are the greatest. Enjoy.
