Teeth For Travis - Ben_Forsaken - 04-22-2005 Well our esteemed board member Trav has an interesting project in mind that he wants me to help him with. Custom teeth for one of his costumes. So Trav, here\'s the teeth that I\'ve been making all week. The teeth are made from 2 different shades of acrylic for a slight translucency, and the gums are 3 shades of red wax. The ones you want will be different, they will be 100% acrylic and I can get started as soon as you get me your molds. So consider this kind of a \'portfolio\' shot. Hope you like em man, I know you\'ve heard me talking about em for awhile now. The most difficult part was getting complete occlusion. The teeth completely lock together and are shaped and curved exactly like real ones. The way the lower back teeth rise up and curve inward are all 100% medically accurate. Hope you dig em. ![]() ![]() ![]() Teeth For Travis - travsall - 04-22-2005 Holy shit Bill!! Level with me man, there\'s a hungry bum wandering around by your place who\'s not too happy with ya right? Teeth For Travis - Prime Time - 04-22-2005 bill i would buy a pair if you made some messed up ones (LF), but those are awesome bill Teeth For Travis - fright-rags - 04-22-2005 Damn, dude! How did you make those? Did you cast real teeth? Teeth For Travis - Hauntmaster9 - 04-22-2005 Those looks great! Teeth For Travis - SuperDanDrista - 04-22-2005 Those do look cool..is that your first set? Is it just a base to mold or are you making the gums in actual wax? Articulator looks great too! I\'ve never used one... Here\'s a set of whacky teeth I made. I got BITE ME video by Michael pack and my knowledge of making teeth increased tremendously after watching it but I haven\'t had a chance to put some of the new techniques to work.. Nice work so far though! Teeth For Travis - Ben_Forsaken - 04-22-2005 Yup it\'s my first pair of teeth. I tried to make them \'perfect\' rather then monstrous so I\'d have a nice reference for sculpting teeth, etc. I went to a local dentist and he\'s been letting me hang out in his lab and read his books. I took some old impressions he had of an elderly woman who had no teeth whatsoever, and poured a stone mold of her gums and mounted them, (somewhat sloppily) on an old articulater he had. Then I covered the gums with a thick layer of wax. 22mm on the maxillary and 18mm on the mandibular. Then just used a bunson burner and some hot wax tool to melt the wax and place the teeth into the posistions I wanted. I read ALOT of dental books and learned about the Curve of Spee (the way the back teeth rise up) and the Curve of Wilson (the way the back teeth curve inward) and studied lingual occlusion which is the look I was going for. Having the inner cusps of the maxillary molars resting in the middle of the mandibular molars. The teeth were made from alginate molds of real teeth and were made with a 2 part polymer/monomer acrylic. And I used 2 different shades of acrylic to try and give the incisol edges a slight translucency like real teeth. Unfortunetely the translucency isn\'t showing up very well in the pics. Mostly I just read a hell of alot about dentistry and denturism and was lucky enough to find a local dentist who was willing to let me hang out in his office and use his lab as long as I gave him a hand when he asked. Got to see alot of crazy extractions and stuff too. He even let me build a bridge of 6 teeth, from bi-cuspid to bi-cuspid for a patient. Which I was glad to do and really almost \'honored\' that my art was going permanantly in someones mouth. Hope that answered any questions Dan. ![]() Btw, your teeth look cool, and I will be making a custom set of \'Bubba\' teeth for Travis. |
