How To Store Your Masks - Soldier48 - 11-09-2005 OK... I know alot of you guys keep your masks on display, but I have about 15 Masks that I use in my Haunted House and I want to store them in a Big Plastic Tub until next year. Is there anything I should wrap with them or in them?? Would it be OK to put a Foam Display Head in the Masks to keep there shape?? The Only mask I plan on keeping out is the Bubba Mask I got from Leather face74 (Jess). It\'s too kick ass to hide all year long. How To Store Your Masks - FinalOmega - 11-09-2005 stuff the masks with plastic bags,they\'ll keep its shape. How To Store Your Masks - Soldier48 - 11-09-2005 Thanks for the Help Omega I\'m still wondering if I can use foam heads to hold the shape also. I have a bunch laying around from my Military Hat collection days. How To Store Your Masks - HalloweeN - 11-09-2005 I put my masks on foam head and set them on top of canned goods or jars so the necks wont touch the surface...works very well! How To Store Your Masks - FinalOmega - 11-09-2005 Quote:Thanks for the Help Omegayeah, those will work if the are large enough to fill the mask. How To Store Your Masks - Soldier48 - 11-09-2005 Awesome thanks! Yeah the foam heads fit well in my Old School Freddy mask. One of the first ones I ever got, I had to be in the 4th grade (1992 time frame), and it fits good in a Zombie mask I got from Spencers I think it\'s that Bump In the Night Prod- House of 1000 corpses masks (but I\'m not sure) How To Store Your Masks - Cryptoys.com - 11-09-2005 Hey before you pack them up powder the inside with baby powder it\'s keeps them dry and helps prevent latex sticking and rot. How To Store Your Masks - Soldier48 - 11-09-2005 Quote:Hey before you pack them up powder the inside with baby powder it\'s keeps them dry and helps prevent latex sticking and rot. Hey thanks man. This is actually the first time I\'ve thought about taking care of my masks. But now since I got some more expensive ones I figured it would pay off in the long run. Thanks again! How To Store Your Masks - GBeninati - 11-09-2005 what you should do after every time you wear them is wash the inside, do it with a small amount of mild detergent and water (even just water is better than nothing) and LET IT DRY thoroughly OR clean the inside with a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth, the alcohol will evaporate fast. It is really necessary to remove all the oils and sweat from the inside. then when it is completly dry powder the inside. baby powder will do fine, the only reason you wouldn\'t use it is someone wearing the mask may be allergic (wich is not very likely since they use it on babys) if you have foam heads I would still suggest stuffing the mask with plastic bags. maybe put plastic bags then the foam heads then stuff the rest of the empty space with plastic bags. then you can use the foam heads to stand them up. You want the mask to be stored as closely as possible to the same shape as when it came out of the mold. If they are squashed together they may retain THAT shape rather than the shape you want them to be in. lastly I would suggest putting a kitchen sized bag over the top of the mask to keep off dust and keep them sealed...I would put the cover on the storage container too because if insects find them you are screwed...or even worst, mice will chew the mask apart and pull out the hair to make nests inside of them and have baby mice and shit all over you masks and have sex in them  but seriously... This is what I did when I moved and my masks weren\'t in storage for too long (I used coke bottles not foam heads). If I were keping them in storage for almost a year, this is definately what I would do, there is not other option IMO. hope this helps G How To Store Your Masks - Soldier48 - 11-09-2005 Yeah that\'s kinda what I did last night. I covered the foam heads with bags to fill in the gaps. I\'ve cleaned my Bubba mask that Jess made after every night I wore it for my Haunted House, but that was really the only good quality mask I had. I just bought some more masks from Spencers last weekend and they are pretty good. I was impressed with the quality, so I want to keep these new. The old ones I have I cleaned them up and hopefully that will help them last longer. I noticed my Freddy mask is losing it\'s shape and it\'s cracking also. But I expected that since I treated that mask like Sh*t for so many years when I was young. I know it takes time to do this but It will save me $$ in the long run. Thanks again, BRAD |
