New Camera Means New Pics! - deadhomie - 06-25-2006

First of all, I\'ve been abscent from the forums for the past year.... I just got the internet back!!! Wooooooo! I see most of you guys are still here, some new faces too. Secondly, I just got my new camera in today. A Sony Cyber-Shot W100. Of course the first thing I did was set up a couple masks. My Psycho (one of first 10 made) and an original Drowned Ghoul w/ acrylic teeth done by NFX sporting my prized NIGHTOWL F7 Hockey Mask. I\'m still figuring out the camera; which settings to use for which environment. So the pics aren\'t perfect yet. Anyone have any tips for shooting masks?

After messing around with the cam today for about an hour I have one more pic for you guys. I think the secret\'s in the lighting. I\'m shooting these inside and it\'s just too dark. Anywho, I give you my Doll Collector by Latex FX. I still love this sculpture by Mark. Such a sinister look.

I think these pics are excellent.Tell me, what settings did you use to take these? My camera is a Fuji Finepix F10,I haven\'t really had time to get things down pat with it yet. This is a good topic, hope plenty of the other members contribute.

that is the best TDC ive seen!!!, great pics to, how do you darken the back ground?

Pete, I think for those first pics I pretty much had my camera on auto (focus, exposure, etc.). I did adjust the ISO sensitivity a little higher so I wouldnt have to use flash. It helps brighten up the pics, but does sacrifice a little picture quality.

Thanks D. It\'s one of the very first. I shoot my masks with a black background so it usually comes out pretty dark. If I need to, I fill it in in Photoshop.

Yes,I think not using the flash is the way. There are settings on my camera that allow to take pictures without flash but stipulate the use of a tripod as the exsposure is longer and thus no handshake.I\'ll give that a try
