Part 7 Shirt - fright-rags - 10-29-2004 Ok, I know these threads show up from time to time, but I thought I\'d ask anyway because I\'m curious. Anyway, I was looking over at my Diehard and thought it would look quite cool as a bust. However, I\'m just not sure what type of shirt to use or how even to go about making the whole thing. Any ideas? Tips? And yeah, I know, add some chains... ![]() Part 7 Shirt - myers-san - 10-29-2004 Gray dickies work shirt with perma wet and welder\'s glue ![]() jason. Part 7 Shirt - travsall - 10-29-2004 I usually don\'t have much to do with these threads, but since it\'s you Ben, I\'ll lend my info! Go to any Wal-Mart and in the mens department there will be a work wear section. Grab a 2 pocket olive green shirt, and matching pants if you want the full costume. To add the rip and tear FX use a serrated knife, and do it in a stabbing motion, then pull apart the hole to get it real nasty lookin! If you have the 18\" Jason figure NECA did, that\'s a great guide for tear placement, if not, pop in the DVD and do some pausing. Once you have it all ripped up to your liking, get some acrylic paints, (black and lots of different browns, gray, yellow ocher and what ever else you think would work) and a cheap spray bottle. Hang the shirt up and get the arms to stick out straight at the sides, take the acrylic paints and water them down to pretty much a water consistancy. Put that in the spray bottle, one color at a time, and give the shirt a fairly good misting. Throw it in the washing machine and wash it cold, hang it to dry and repeat if you want it darker and grimier. If you want that wet look, soak it in perma wet and let dry. That\'ll do it! Good luck man! Part 7 Shirt - mike - 10-29-2004 i found it easier to use workshirts that arent dickies..Dickies are stain resistant and harder to acheive a freyed old look.. Part 7 Shirt - fright-rags - 10-29-2004 Thanks for the responses! And thanks Trav for the detailed instructions...gonna have to make a stop at Wal-Mart soon ![]() Part 7 Shirt - englundisgod - 10-30-2004 great info trava also you might wanna try some navy blue work clothes and if you want anotherway to fray use a wirebrush i have heard of people using emory boards you can even use a wirebrush on a bench grinder but if it tangles it will drag you hands in (believe me ) i got lots more tips if you want Part 7 Shirt - travsall - 10-30-2004 Well, actually the shirt and pants were olive green in the movie, so navy blue would not be accurate at all. A wire brush is a good tip, you can get some pretty good worn spots with that, but DO NOT use a wire polishing wheel on a grinder, all you\'re gonna do is wreck the clothes completely, probably the grinder too, and real good chance you\'ll hurt yourself damn bad in the process. Part 7 Shirt - Bloodyaxe - 10-30-2004 Here is a pic of mine that I made. It was a dickies gray workshirt, that I weathered and dyed green.
