Scammed Again... - andrew santagato - 07-27-2009 Just a friendly reminder to those who believe in the 'Barter' system, the next time you do a 'barter and trade', make sure you get the piece you're owed BEFORE you send out your piece. I've now been screwed over TWICE because of this. Take it from a true CHUMP, the next time you have someone tell you they would like something of yours in exchange for something that THEY have, get the piece from THEM before you send out YOUR piece. I've done this twice now, and have been (I apologize to the entire forum for using such foul language) over. I'm not in the business of being a rat, so I'm not naming names. The 'barter' system should be treated like any other business transaction. It's the same as money. You wouldn't send out your product to someone who tells you that they want it, but they'll pay you AFTER they get it would you?Word to the wise ladies and gentlemen.-A Scammed Again... - jonl - 07-27-2009 thanks for the tip Andrew, this hobby can be pretty ruff!! I'm not trying to be rude (just a little buzzed) but come on dude, don't let him get the best of you. Let it be known (or just pm me the pricks name, lol). Scammed Again... - Deadguy71 - 07-27-2009 Sorry to hear man.. of course someone has to send first. I always send first, but I probably shouldn't be so trusting I guess. Scammed Again... - monteburns - 07-27-2009 If I was ever going to trade it would only be with someone who was face to face in my city. That is a real slap in the face to know that you got screwed and you actually paid the shipping to lose your own item. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/verymad.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":verymad:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"verymad.gif\" /> Scammed Again... - crazydog500 - 07-27-2009 <!--quoteo(post=323238:date=Jul 26 2009, 07:53 PM:name=BornOfFire)<div class=\'quotetop\'>QUOTE (BornOfFire @ Jul 26 2009, 07:53 PM) <a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=323238\"><{POST_SNAPBACK}></a></div><div class=\'quotemain\'><!--quotecYou don't want to be a rat? If it involves you calling the police, or crime stoppers about ant situation that does NOT involve children, then I would have to agree but warning us and everyone else in this community about a pie@e of s@it thief is doing us all a service. Scammed Again... - Deadguy71 - 07-27-2009 For folks clamoring for a name.. He can't do that.. there's no way to prove it's legitimate, and the other party may not be availible to present their side of the story to defend themselves or say it never happened, or shipment never arrived, or whatever. That's why it's not permitted on these and many other forums. Otherwise, if I didn't like someone I could come on here randomly and accuse the heck out of them and make people not want to deal with them, etc.. without an ounce of proof. It's considered slander and internet "annonymous" slanderous posts have recently been considered actionable in court. (Even if true, apparently.. according to a recent supreme court ruling). Big no-no, and not worth the potential legal repercussions. For me, I try to avoid dealing with folks I don't see all over people's signatures, unless it's low dollar stuff, and then, if it worked out properly, they get added to my sig. It's a nice way to see who's at least BEEN trustworthy. Probably not the best possible solution, but it's better than nothing.Interestingly enough.. It means that good solid reputations are more important than ever. to "save others" from a bad person, get the police involved. I collect high end sports cards and well on the forum I go to they have a trading system with a feedback system similar to ebay. If you are new to the forum with under 20 trades done you have to send first. If you have 20 or more you can send at the same time, however if you have had negative feedback left you must send first on all deals even new ones. I think it is a great system to have so you actually know how the person is you are dealing with and you and the person you are trading with must publicly agree to the trade by pressing confirm and then if one of the people get screwed the mods then step in and try to help it get resolved. Something to think about! |
