Hey guys,This is my first post here, (I've been reading through the forums for a couple of weeks) and have been blown away by some of the work featured on here as well as the collections some of you have amassed. Really incredible. I just received my very first 'collector' mask in the form of a David Miller Nightmare Part 5 mask. Which I'm going to spend a lot of time staring at. Probably too much.In any event, my question is, if I want to display it with eyes and fitted onto a form, what's the best way to go about doing it? I've got a styrofoam wig head its on now, but its a bit small. Any ideas? I don't plan on wearing it, and eventually I'd like to make a full size Freddy Kruger mannequin using it.Thoughts? Comments?

I have foam filled numerous masks. The best bet is to leave the eyes uncut first. Place a trash bag inside of the head. Buy some 2 parts soft foam from a plastics store or ubholstry foam. The ratio is usually 1 part foam to 1/10 catalyst. Sounds alot harder than it really is. The foam will expand about 10 times bigger than what you pour so just start out with a little bit at a time. To much and you will have an erupting volcano of foam which is sticky and if not removed immediately can harm your mask. The point of the bag is so that the foam can fill the bag and not mask since if there is any small holes in the mask the foam can pour through. Also you can remove the foam if you ever decide you dont want it foam filled anymore. The foam will be soft but will fill the bag out which will mold to the mask shape. Make sure to foam fill the mask before painting since sometime the pressure off the foam can stretch the mask to much causing paint to chip. When you pour the foam make sure to slosh it around in the mask and not to let it just sit this is a much better way to ensure that to much foam will accumulate in one area. Once the mask is fully foam filled and is allowed to cure you can cut the eyes out with an exacto blade. If adding glass or acrylic eyes just push them into place and the foam will act as a support for them. You can also cut out some of the foam for a better fit. In the end result the mask will keep its shape and be semi soft but solid. I would greatly suggest soft foam and not hard foam since the hard foam takes the consistency of strofoam and is harder to work with. Make sure no matter what you wear a respirator and glaove s and try to avoid any contact with your skin and face. This stuff is perfectly safe once cured but as most products can be harm full in the liquid and curing stage. Hmm. Any ideas for an online source for 2 part soft foam? My first thought was the Great Stuff insulation foam found at hardware stores, though its nasty to work with. I think that'd make me a bit nervous as well. The garbage bag on the inside is brilliant, however - something I would have completely overlooked.Thanks for the direction!

Dont use great stuff, it just dont work right. Monster makers or fxwarehouse inc sells the 2 part foam.

Your much better off buying soft foam you mix and pour. I have tried that spray insulation foam and it was more trouble than its worth. Where do you live and I can hook you up with a great place near me that sells the foam. They ship orders as well if your not in the Los Angeles area as I am. My masks are all set on paper towel rolls and stuffed properly with thin layers of paper foam from a craft store. I would never put spray foam into any of my masks. If something goes wrong ur up the creek without a paddle bro. The eyes of my masks set in well and look natural and have the pressure behind to keep it in!!!!there's some pics of a few of my masks on the forum...... have a look for a better idea.Tank
