Just curious what it nromally costs to have someone sculpture a bust for you? I have something I\'d like to have scuplted and cast but I\'ve never approached anyone for this kinda thing before.
I\'m sure a few of you talented people have been approached so what is the normal deal?

well it all depends on style and quality.. i had a commisoned mask done for me by Chris Russell.. it was very simple in desingn.. but i had to pay for his time as well as the materials.. the end result was a kud mask.. my avatar...
Wasnt really to terribly expensive.. but like i said.. nothing major.. somehting like a screen accurate zombie..(bub for instance) will cost up in the 1000$+ area...

Id say something detailed would cost ya $1500 and up.Also depends on if you wanta one of a kind peice or if the artist can sale sme copuies.dependss on latex or silicone.How the hair work is on the peice you want(if theres hair).The artsist that does it and the quality are bif factors aswell.alot of different things to think of when commisioning the bust.Ive never commissioned a bust so im no expert on it........

Chris Russell was topping my list actually. The piece I have in mind wouldn\'t need to stay a 1 of a kind either. I was just trying to get a ballpark figure before approaching any sculptors and wasting their time...

When I have pieces done they start at $1000 just for the sculpture. Molds are expensive and can run into the $2500 range. Jason

When I asked Chris Russell to sculpture me a Hannibal Mask here\'s the price he gave me.
$500 for a blank
$600 for a fully haired/painted one
$1200 to keep the mold
Chris would be your best bet. He\'s a great guy and does some good work (As i\'m sure you know).

Every mask maker is different as far as prices on commissioned pieces. There are lots of diferent factors they consider
1 size
2 Finishing material(silicone, latex)
3 Time it takes to scuplt, mold, cast, paint, etc...
4 Multilps copies, or one of a kind
If you go with an FX pro it will run no less than $3500
Independants will be substantualy lower !!!

I would contact Erich Lubatti his prices are very reasonable and he does some great work. I have seen a few of his comissioned pieces up close and personal and was amazed at the detail. He\'s working on a private comission for me right now as a matter of fact.
