Canada To Usa - Customs - SuperDanDrista - 12-30-2006

This is also different because it\'s coming from Canada and not the other way around. I\'ve never had to even run into customs at all.

Canada To Usa - Customs - mrmorningside - 12-30-2006

Canada To Usa - Customs - JOEY - 12-30-2006

That\'s how I feel alot Steve. Call me bad luck Joey... lol.

It sounds crazy to me though. That guys paying for shipping. Why in the world would you be responsible for paying an extra 100 or 200 dollars again on top of what he paid??? It doesn\'t sound right to me. I never really had to deal with receiving packages from other countries before... well other than the Waterboy I got from David.

I hope it works out for you man. Good luck!

Canada To Usa - Customs - Crash - 12-30-2006

I could be wrong, but I\'m not sure you\'d have to pay for anything. I\'ve never heard of that happening and I\'ve gotten stuff from overseas and Canada.

Canada To Usa - Customs - dougie - 12-30-2006

When I got my 2 lifesize chucky dolls from Japan I didnt pay a thing and they put insurance on them for $1000 on one and $1500 on the other. But it was shipped EMS by the post office. I dont know about Fedex or UPS.

Canada To Usa - Customs - goaliehack - 12-30-2006

I\'ve never gotten hit with a duty from any box sent out from Canada.

Canada To Usa - Customs - krazedkilla - 12-30-2006

I\'ve never heard of anyone from the United States having to pay brokerage and duty fees from getting shipments from Canada. It\'s actually the complete opposite. Due to the NAFTA agreement any item coming from the US (and is not made in the USA) is subject to a duty and postal courrier fees. When shipping outside of the US you have to declare the package, how much it\'s worth. and if you don\'t there customs can open the package and determine its worth and the person outside the US can be hit with a duty depending on what they think its worth. If you have ever shipped to a person that has lived in Canada, I\'m sure they would have told you to mark the item as a gift on the Shipping form and putting it\'s worth at like $10 bucks even though its worth a heck of alot more and most of all not to insure the package which is risky cause if it\'s lost your out SOL and so is the person who was going to recieve the item but it\'s all done to get around the surcharge. Basically the more the item is worth the more they will charge, I\'ve heard of people being charged $26 bucks for an item that is worth $50. But no, never have I read or heard about people who live in the United States being charged a duty for items coming in from Canada or anywhere else. If you do get hit with a duty tell them to ship it back to the owner and give the owners specific directions to ship it out through the Canada Post with no insurance, marking the item as gift and a cost of 10 bucks.

Hopefully all works out well though.

This can be a really wierd deal

I hve never had to pay a cent on anything coming through the post office to me from Canada

The one time something came in via UPS I did owe some type of customs or duty but it was only like $ 20 on something like an $ 800 value

I really don\'t know about Fed ex - you should really call your Fed Ex office or try their website - you may be fine or just a small charge - i do not think you will owe $100\'s of dollars on this.

They guy really should have put a declared value under $1000
