That feels good." He was LOVIN EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!! He wasn't scared and whining and crying. They weren't being true to the Freddy character is what he meant.<!--QuoteEnd</div><!--QuoteEEndHasn't anyone watched the first film? Didn't anyone see how Freddy reacted when Nancy dumped him with kerosene and lit him up? When she broke the jar on him he began to shout "NO! NO!" and shook like a chihuahua out in the snow. I believe Wes Craven's vision of Freddy had him having fears of his own. Freddy is terrified of fire. Watch Freddy's reaction in New Nightmare when he gets locked in the boiler right at the end. He's terrified of the flames. Freddy's character was ruined in sequels and a dreadful TV series. But when Wes Craven was at the controls of the character, he made Freddy deathly afraid of fire. It's the sequels that didn't remain true to the Freddy persona that Wes had envisioned. I did see a video on youtube showing Glen's extended death scene and they had a deleted clip thrown in there of Nancy screaming "I'm awake I'm awake this isn't a dream" right after the tongue phone scene. I feel as if that had been left in people might have suspected that the whole movie could be a dream til the very end of it or at least personify it that way. In New Nightmare that wasn't really Freddy to begin with it was supposedly a demon who was trapped in the Nightmare series for so long that he liked being Freddy but didnt want to give that image up thus making a "darker....More evil" Freddy than what we saw in the past films. Again his backstory being before he was burned was thrown through the ringer too many times, the fact of him having a kid or his mom being a nun getting raped by 100 maniacs, wasn't a perverted psycho who molested and killed children to get his sick kicks enough of a backstory? Honestly I feel the series should have ended after Part 4. If they change that aspect in the remake and make him out to be "misunderstood", I will be disappointed. But I can also see that making him that much more thirsty for revenge after he's murdered.A dead Fred is scary, but a dead Fred with a vengeance is even scarier. I know I'd be upset if I were killed over something I didn't do. Opposed to something I deserved. My Friends Thoughts On The Nightmare On Elm Street Remake - mpetrie - 01-13-2010 The issue that started this conversation was about a guy saying it's out of character for the living Freddy to be fearful and proclaiming innocence. Who says Freddy wouldn't be afraid of an angry mob of parents? The only time we really saw Freddy being burned originally was in Freddy's Dead and we know how much of a joke that was. Tadpole demons anyone? I would imagine Freddy suffering and screaming while being burned to death. I think that's one of Freddy's driving forces. Even Robert Englund said he used the fact that these teens are beautiful and young yet Freddy is disfigured and he used that as a source of anger while playing the character. Freddy is pissed about being burned alive so the reaction of JEH's Freddy while running from the mod seems rather realistic to me. |
