Thanks man. Yeah, I'm pretty happy to have a 245a

It's funny, I've seen a few running 306's for sale, but hardly ever (if ever) a running 245a for sale.

I heard Poulan had stopped making the 245 and released the 306 as an improvement. Maybe that's why the only 245's I've seen up were broken "for parts" saws.

I bought one a while back, with the member claiming it ran great. Received it broken with no further contact from the owner. :/

The debate is well place if you want my opinion... The poulan 306a and 245a are exaclty the same... except for the gas tank I think and the logo Tongue

There are some places that says its a poulan 306 other a 245...
IMDB they say its a 245: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072271/trivia
Wikipedia say its a 245: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poulan

Of course, those ressouces are not very interesting... But if you look at the pictures:

Take a good look at the tank form...

Now you can check both version of the poulan and you will see that the 306 has a thiner gas tank

I found that on a chainsaw forum lol

So, in my opinion, the chainsaw is more looking like a 245a due to its tank. But again this is not a big deal lol since that is the only difference... both are nearly identical.

Tell me what you guys think.

Thank GOD someone did as much research as I did and found the answer..... GREAT work on solving one of the well known questions of any TCM fan. Well needless to say I have 2 245A and 2 306A's. I know it's a little over kill but I had to jump on them since they were pretty much flawless when I bought them. YES, I know it's unheard of but I have been very fortunate to have run into people (older folks) that would trust that I will come through on my side of the deal and not run off with their merchandise and likewise them wth my money.

Great SCORE and thanks once again for answering that question for everyone!

That's awesome and also a weird coincedence. Earlier today I was wondering what the original chainsaw make and model was.
