Chainsaw Question (final Pics Added) - ZombieBloodLust - 09-27-2005

Quote:Thanks for all of the help. I\'m also thinking about getting a chain and using a dremel to dull down the points. Then cutting the chain so it doesn\'t touch the gear, and using epoxy stick it to the chainbar. I did this last year but used a bike chain, and some many people freaked out and said "He\'s got a chain on it!\' until some little kid goes "That\'s a bike chain..." Man did I feel like a retard. Sad

i cannot express how bad of an idea that is to use a real chainsaw chain, filed down or not its extreamly dangerous!!!not only would it take you eons to file it down, one missed tooth and you got a lawsuit. it would end up looking like a bike chain anyway! my recomendation is to use a bike chain and tack weld it on the bar, it is the safest way to do it. otherwise you run the risk of chasing after some chick with long hari and having the hair\clothing\skin accidentaly get caught in the spinning chain. i bet you would feel more like a retard if you actualy hurt someone. f- the little kids... ignore them...... just keepp the game face on and chase the hell out of them!

No! I cut the chain and glue it down so it doesn\'t move. I would never use a chain at a haunt that is moving  But after looking at my chainsaw chain, it would look like a bike chain anyway if I grind it down.
Let me stress again. I know I\'m new to this site and I ask alot of questions. But please know that I scare the shit out of people but we go through a million safety inspections first. And safety is a priority.
(Atleast I know there are people at this site to guide some newbies in the right direction if they are about to make a bad choice)

Yeah I\'m going to darken my blood some with some black paint. I just mixed the red with the clear coat and it looks pretty good on the chainbar, now I\'m going to wait for it to dry and see how it turned out.

LOL he was quoting Hannibal Lector

As for the blood and gore I use five minute epoxy and red food coloring with a touch of blue. Take a wax paper dixie cup and dump the epoxy in there then take the food coloring and add it to the mixture stir it around with a cheap paint brush (the paint brush will be ruined) and apply with the paint brush to the chain bar. For the gore you can use latex bits or tissue paper stirred around in the mixture. A little bit of hair adds a nice touch as well I\'ve used this method on a machete and a sledge hammer it works great. The thing you have to remember is to work fast the epoxy will begin to harden in about 5 minutes (hence the name 5 min. epoxy)

Well I finished my Chainbar and with the help of many people this is what I got. It is darker in real life. And it is coated with a numerous thick layers of clear coat to give it depth. Let me know what you think!
