Warm Thoughts/prayers/etc Needed - Ben_Forsaken - 04-21-2006 Good luck man, glad she\'s realized she needs help. DT\'s are no joke, when it\'s gotten to the point where you wake up sick and shaking and every few hours you\'re sick and shaking from withdrawal, there\'s a real problem. Thank goodness she realized her family and health are more important. Getting her detoxed for 24 hours before entry though might be hard. Warm Thoughts/prayers/etc Needed - Bear - 04-21-2006 An addict has to take baby steps and I\'m glad to hear she took the hardest one of all...I wish her all the best in one of the hardest things she will ever have to go though. Just keep up the faith and give the best support you can from where you are. Wishing your family the very best buddy...and I hope some other people, no name drops of course, will take this to heart and assess thier own demons. Lemme know if I can do anything Bro. - Bear Warm Thoughts/prayers/etc Needed - mike - 04-21-2006 sorry to hear that man..hopefully everything gets better i been threw problems like that and its no fun...good luck Warm Thoughts/prayers/etc Needed - GBeninati - 04-21-2006 I hope everything goes well look on the bright side she is on the road to recovery my friend went thru a similar problem..to the same extreme now he quit, goes to the gym, looks and feels great best wishes G Warm Thoughts/prayers/etc Needed - SNIKT! - 04-21-2006 I\'m truely sorry to hear this Mike. I\'m positive she\'ll bounce back and make a full recovery. I too know what it is like to lose someone...I lost my Mom 2 years ago to cancer at age 47. I miss her deeply. May I ask what your Mother\'s name is? My thoughts are most assuredly with you. Warm Thoughts/prayers/etc Needed - petejig - 04-21-2006 Mike,I,m genuinly sorry to hear about this situation. The sooner you get your Mother in to the detox the better, obviously. When that bridge has been crossed you can try and get down to the root of the problem. If it,s depression, then a viscious circle has been caused because the drink will make it worse.Depression by itself is very treatable, and nothing to be ashamed of,God knows how many of us haven,t felt it at some time, but in some individuals it can be utterly crushing. These are the ones that need to seek professional help. When your mother is away from the drink, the good news is the body soon repairs any internal problems,i.e a damaged Liver, all that will be explained at detox.Ultimately, your Mother must try to find some peace within her mind and emotions, only then will her demons be put to the sword. My prayers and best wishes are with you all.Let your Mother read these posts, it may just let a little light through her window. Warm Thoughts/prayers/etc Needed - Ben_Forsaken - 04-21-2006 Actually, not to be a dink. But the liver is not a self healing organ like others are. Alchohol damage is pretty permanent. that\'s true though about the \'cycle of depression\' that\'s how alot of us get started. Feel bad, so you drink or use something, which makes you feel worse, so you use more, which makes you feel worse, so you.... My old man told me, "Life is a muthafu**er and it don\'t give a sh*t about you. It\'ll stomp your balls and knock your teeth out first chance it gets. You can either dwell on it and all the bad things, or just ignore the bad, focus on the good, and go out in the world and make something of yourself. Or you can get all depressed and sit around waiting to die. It\'s your choice. But Life doesn\'t care about you, you gotta care about yourself." at the time, * I was like 15 * I just thought he was being an ass and a bit of a dink. But the older I get the more I see what he was really trying to tell me. I think we\'ve all got alot of hope for you and your Mom bro. Good luck. The first step is one of the hardest. Warm Thoughts/prayers/etc Needed - Mutilated - 04-21-2006 Quote:Actually, not to be a dink. But the liver is not a self healing organ like others are. Alchohol damage is pretty permanent.Yup, that\'s about it. Your dad hit the nail on the head. And the liver is our only organ that can regenerate it\'s self but damage to it is permanent. Warm Thoughts/prayers/etc Needed - Ben_Forsaken - 04-21-2006 Yeah I know when my student got a liver transplant they gave him like, 1/2 a liver and it regrew the rest. But yeah, damage is permanent. Kinda seems wierd, like a contradiction. But I\'ve always heard alchohol liver damage is permanent. And being half irish, I\'ve definetely got some folks in the family that love thier drinks so I was always kinda worried about em. Especially my uncle, I think he drinks like a 12 pack a night, every night, for as long as I\'ve known, and I\'m 29. So I always worry about what he\'s done to himself. My family has a loong, looooong, history of addiction. My Grandma went through what this guys mom is going through now. It\'s very hard. I was only about 10 when she went into detox, but I remember how hard it was for her and what a big deal it was. Gotta love a country where it seems like the most dangerous \'drugs\' i.e., Cigs and Liquour are completely legal. I wish we were more like Denmark. ![]() Warm Thoughts/prayers/etc Needed - josephchoi - 04-21-2006 damn man ![]() |
