Manhattan Part 8 Costume - wickedbeard - 07-20-2008

The shirt is a faded blue.If you look at the screen used shirt it is clearly blue, but it is pretty faded. Also , if you watch the arsenio hall show clip with kane the shirt is so faded it almost looks grey, but when it has a wet sheen it turns a dark blue, and yeah photography has a lot to do with the look. Also if you watch that clip, look close, there is only one pocket on the right side of the shirt.I actually just noticed that myself.Denim shirts would be fine, just make sure it does not look too much like jean material. As far as black? Not really, but hey it is your suit.lolI suggest going to wal-mart, and looking in their mens section.they have faded glory blue shirts for $5 right now, and I will tell ya, they are easy to weather, and the holes and rips look really nice as the shirt kind of has a fuzzy feel to it(look close at the part 6 paintball shirt, and you will see the fuzziness I am referring to).No need for washing them over and over, they naturally fray really nice.I did my part 6 with the olive green Faded glory shirts and bought a couple more for my part 3 and 4 redos. They do have light brown buttons, but a sharpie does the trick. They have the proper pockets. Here is a trick, take a dark blue shirt do your latex, modge podge, or perma wet, whatever suits you, and take some grey primer spray, and give it a light mist all over the shirt(I use spray paint, and watered down acrylics for a good majority of my weathering). It gives the shirt a slight faded look. Also if you get the faded glory shirts ,and hit it with a sanding sponge all over. and especially around the pockets and collar. It will actually give you a really nice worn faded look, but do this before you add the wet material(latex, podge, permawet).Good luck bro, and look forward to your costume pics.

I actually took an online poll of over 1000 people. when people think back to seeing part 8 as a kid (part 7) as well. not one person said either costume was anything but black. and isn't that what really matters ? what the average person looking at the costume will remember. but im just a newbie, what do I (and 1000) other people know ????? LOL<!--QuoteEnd</div><!--QuoteEEndApparently not much. Sounds like mass stupidity. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Smile\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /> I always thought part 7 was a dark blue or green, and part 8 was definitely dark blue. I guess the majority of the people are color blind. Also black will not show as many details, and may blend in to well with the night. You can't go by what 1,000 people say, only by what 1 customer wants, or of course screen accuracy. Which is why most do custom work as opposed to mass-marketing.

Manhattan Part 8 Costume - Homicidal#9 - 07-21-2008

i know this isn't going to mean much, but Kane told me it was a blue denim shirt. This was when i met him in a part 8 costume i had been working on and he critiqued it for me...just my two cents.take care,Tommy

Ill go pick up denium shirt at the salvation army tomorrow and try it. Sometimes I find that some things work better in person than on film. Like even though it was a denim shirt used in the movie, a black shirt may work better because it will help give it that wet look... The wet denim shirt may be hard to make look wet without sliming it up every scene like in the movie! So we shall se...

If you are using tube socks make sure you stretch them over something bigger than your forearms, so that when the latex dries on them they wont shrink as much. I just made my suit using the exact same things you are about to use, tube socks oatmeal and latex, the oatmeal turned out to have a great look and great texture.
