I love Robert as Freddy. But he's just too old to start over in a 'REDO' of the film. Robert would play everything the same as Freddy always has. That's not really a bad thing. But if they are looking to go for a different kind of Freddy another actor would have to step in. Who ever he will be has big shoes to fill. But they might suprise us with there creativity.

<b>"But in Freddy's mind, he did nothing wrong and was killed for it and that pisses him off and he wants revenge."</b> ...........hey i'm seeing the sequel name already!!! <img src=\"http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq247/el_mariarchi_01/FotoFlexer_Animation-4.gif\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /> <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"tongue.gif\" /> <img src=\"http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq247/el_mariarchi_01/m_936dabed90334e6c8c439918c492a973.gif\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />

I really think that who they cast as Fred will make or break this movie. After seeing Jackie Earle Haley in Watchmen as Rorschach I think that he would be great as a dark Freddy.

We'll see how this turns out...I don't like how the review seemed to blame Freddy's humor on Robert Englund. Aside from a few ad libs perhaps, most of Freddy's humorous lines came from lame writers, not from Robert Englund. Are they forgetting that Englund played the original creepy Freddy in part 1 (and arguably part 2)? Give me a break...Also, adee is right about the glove. If he wasn't a murderer before being killed, then they're at least going to have to do away with the idea that the parents knew, and kept the glove, etc. Also, if he's not a janitor, the making of the glove at all (either before or after being killed) doesn't make much sense. The whole point was that he was in a boiler room, and built a crude instrument with things on hand. If he's a gardener/day care provider, it would be more natural to see an Edward Scissorhands glove perhaps WinkAt the same time, I'm not that worried if the story changes a little from the original. If you look at deleted scenes from the original, that film was actually much different than the final edit. The parents were originally intended to start suspecting that Freddy was responsible for the murders, and struggling with what they had done. But in the final edit, they just continually assert that Nancy is nuts. So I think there is plenty of wiggle room for the story really, especially in a remake.

See this is something that has always bothered me as a genuine horror fan - how fast people jump ship instead of showing a bit of loyalty and demand to see a certain actor in a movie. Robert Englund is Freddy. He played many a character but Freddy is what he did best and what created his fanbase. I am not a die hard Freddy fan by any means but if after so many movies all of a sudden they decide that Robert Englund is not good enough to be Freddy anymore than start up a different franchise instead of ruining one that is legendary. There is no one that would be able to pull Krueger off like Englund does, no one.But instead of showing the studios that we as fans won't stand for getting fed these steaming piles of celluloid diarrhea, people flock to the cinemas because the name of their favorite franchise is plastered all over it no matter how bad the product is.That's why studios don't bother to put a hefty amount of money behind these projects anymore because they know that they can get away with mediocre product and that's also the reason why smaller studios will always produce better movies because they actually care about what they put out.Would you go watch another Jason movie if all of a sudden he wore a cowboy hat instead of a hockeymask, just to keep things fresh? There are some things that you don't change in a franchise. There is a certain formula that you have to stick with and if you stray from that you will end up ruining the movie. It's the reason why Zombie's Halloween sucked, why the TCM remake blew and why the F13 remake was only mediocre.
