Really Need Some Form Of Income - WarLocK - 04-29-2009 I will tell you right now eBay is not the best route to go. People go there for bargains and there are tons of hockey masks on there. You'd be lucky to get $50/Hockey Mask right now w/ the current market conditions. On top of that you have to worry about 'other' guys taking you down and reporting you to Newline, etc. eBay is also notorious for pulling auctions that are reported. So basically unless you sculpt the Hockey Mask yourself, you'll eventually run into problems selling any accurate Hockey Mask from a movie-mold source. The Hockey Mask biz is pretty crazy and tricky... you have to really know your stuff to avoid certain legal trouble. I wish you the best of luck though! Really Need Some Form Of Income - Deadguy71 - 04-29-2009 I have a friend that does fast business on craigslist.. you might try that.. who knows? He says there's no competition, and most folks who shop that way don't have a complete idea of what the mask should look like. Which makes it pretty forgiving, but he also says you gotta' price low because these aren't usually folks who are aware of the "going price" for these things and quickly complain if it's price seems high to them.As for the hazards of Ebay, I'm not a mask seller, but it's kinda' weird how the market is full of them, and yet it's difficult to walk through the legal issues? Seems like a lot of folks are doing it somehow. Whether or not they're successfully selling, or are getting shutdown and there's just THAT many out there, is another matter though. The repainted remake hockey masks from Toys R Us kinda' flooded the market, but that'll die down a little, I guess, since that source is pretty much tapped out, and you're seeing more and more recasts of it now, going unsold.Right now the heat seems to be slowly warming under the Michael Myers, Nightmare on Elms Street, and Pinhead IP's likely because they've got movies in the works. Maybe Jason will get another surge just as the DVD/Blue-Ray is released, or specifics on a part 2 come out.. I dunno.Just speculating here though. Really Need Some Form Of Income - dxfan - 04-29-2009 i hear ya, i was thinking of doing vs style and remake...are they similar molds? or are the remake a new design?.I would be happy to get rid of each one for around 60 bucks.....but the market just seems sooooo flooded. and many arent selling. i dont knowlol Really Need Some Form Of Income - Mandoman - 04-29-2009 I've sold a few masks on Ebay with no problems. I've just been trying to get better at painting hockey masks, but so far 3 out of 4 of the masks I've sold have gone to some company that places bids from Japan, and the 4th got relisted by the buyer who used my EXACT picture and description. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"mad.gif\" /> Almost all the masks I've painted so far have taken at least a week. Not the actual process, but mostly I'll do work on it one day, then the next day I'll compare it to screen caps, and do a little more. The next day I'll do the same, etc. It helps a little because on the first day of painting/weathering, I mostly just see the main scratches. Then the second day, I'll see a few more that I missed the first day and add them, and so on. |
