Quote:I always use to tune to Metallica records when I was a kid. Whole lotta open low \'E\' strings to tune to. Hell, I learned to play by playing along with the first 4 tapes. (back when people actually bought tapes.  Huh  )

and oh yeah, $500. is nothing for a good guitar. I personally wouldn\'t spend less then that, but I\'m a Les Paul guy.
I payed $500 for my guitar... got hooked up sorta kinda... lol

And yeah, if it wasn\'t for the first four Metallica albums, I wouldn\'t be playing guitar at all.

Quote:pitch is relative. as long as the notes have the proper intervals between them, the guitar will sound in tune.

btw, if you tune it one half step sharp, it becomes.

F
C
A flat
E flat
B flat
F

but it still wouldn\'t matter as long as the guitar is in tune with itself. It only become a problem if you\'re trying to play along with a tape or other people.

good point!
it really doesn\'t matter actually how tight your strings are, you would just have to improvise your chords. trust me, i\'ve been improvising for a LONG time now. You get used to it. Like I said before 500 could and could not be a cheap price for a guitar. I was kinda like JV someone hooked me up w/ a les paul! Big Grin

Epiphone or Gibson?

Looking For.......... - WilliamAbuJannah - 12-14-2004

nope. no chord improvising. It\'s not an open tuning. It\'s the standard tuning. The guitar just has to be in tune with itself. A minor third is always a minor third. Whether the root note is an \'E\' and the minor interval is a \'G\' (E minor interval), or if the root not is \'F\' and the minor interval is \'G#\' (F minor interval) it will always sound like a minor interval.

It\'s not the notes that are important grasshopper, it\'s the places \'BETWEEN\' the notes that are important.

lemme know if ya ever have any other geetar questions. I\'ve been playing about 18 years and I know music theory and harmony. (which helps, take the class if your high school ever offers it)

peace.

oh yeah, LES PAULS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! imo LoL
