Hey guys... just thought I'd toss up a quick photo of a test piece I did of a "dirtier" version of my part 1 glove. trying to get the fingertips to be more random and less artistic so it looks more natural. What do you think if I made the fingertips on my Part 1 glove like this?<img src=\"http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn47/knifegloves/Coloring.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />Tried to give it a similar appearance to this (except I didn't mess much with the soldering yet):<img src=\"http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn47/knifegloves/Fingertips.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />

I think that looks pretty good, but I prefer the the previous one a little more. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" />

knifegloves: I like your experimentation with the fingertips. In general, my primary standard for glove evaluation is level of screen accuracy, so the closer it gets to looking like the real thing, the happier I am Wink The part 1 hero was a dirty mess of a glove in many respects. I think all of the clean/streamlined replicas out there have almost made people forget this...

I've only been building gloves for just over a year now and am pretty much a rookie in this line of work so my gloves will continue to change as I try to find my niche. I think I've been trying too hard to get my gloves too nice looking and that has been giving me headaches. Yeah... artistic gloves look nice but are not accurate. Remember.. Freddy is a crazed lunatic who made his weapons himself. He was a janitor, not a craftsman. So, I think I will lean toward making my gloves, particularly the Part 1, more like Freddy would have made it. Really.. the major change will be in the weathering on the fingertips. I've been making them clean and artistic but I will try to get more randomness instead.

That one shown in the screen cap is NOT the "hero glove"...It is the stunt. The ends of the fingers don't even connect to the "rivets" seen on the lower half of the finger construction. It's completely separated, just like the "This is God." scene. The hero glove was far cleaner in appearance, as is evidenced by this picture (amongst many other promotional shots):[attachment=28976:1.jpg]I would just concentrate on giving the copper an <b>even</b> coat of age (kind of like how a penny gets old, dull, and "brown") and then make a few small, darker brown spots here and there on the tips of the fingers.By the way, I'm ALL FOR making it look more natural...Especially the aging of the leather and evenness of the copper's color... <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" /> Cheers,Ryan

The glove is the hero before it was completed It seems like the hero is clean but it has just had time to tarnish to a more even coating. The pic above of the armature is attached with rubber bands no ring lets yet so they did some small changes I am sure also. But it is the hero.

The stunt gloves looked completely different. There was only one metal glove used in the movie and that's it. As a matter of fact, that scene is probably one of the only reasons that they actually built an all metal hero glove (for extreme close-ups).The coloring on the promo pic can't be trusted. They may have cleaned the glove up for the pic, but it's probably just due to the lighting. I highly doubt that the leather was orange like some people think.Although, I'm all for screen accuracy, I think replicating the exact color pattern of the part one glove is impossible. There aren't photos that are clear enough and I think the oxidation patterns changed alot throughout the filming. Therefore, I think knifegloves' new approach is smart. Make it look real and natural. Crude but mechanically sound. Remember in The Nightmare Never Ends book, the idea was to make it look like it was made by someone who had "the skills of a boilermaker."

I'm really curious. Why would they have completed the hero glove without the ringlets only to add them in later after shooting a few scenes? The appearance, solder, and construction of the glove in that screen cap above is *completely* different than the hero glove. Are you suggesting that's because everything turned an "even coating of brown" and the solder somehow changed its pattern after a few days...?By the way, it's a fact that the "stunt glove" had incomplete/disconnected finger joints throughout the entire movie. The rubber bands make perfect sense in that context, and evidence in picture form isn't hard to find.Cheers,Ryan
