New Freddy Glove Coloring - allthingsevil - 12-12-2008
This is not the same as the stunt glove that did not have metal blades. Also the tips where not attached to the armature, this one the tips are attached. On the stunt glove the tips where glued to the leather glove. The hero above is not attached to the glove at all. I have tons of hard coppies of the tips on the hero and they match. All the soldering is the same and some of the red is even there on the cleaner looking shoots. I will heat a glove and get all sorts of colors and when it darkens they are there but no as noticable. Anyone with good pics post them here so we can compare. I dont on this pc only pictures I printed. Even this said I still prefer the cleaner look <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":biggrin:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"biggrin.gif\" />

The stunt glove did have disconnected finger joints but they didn't look like that at all. They didn't even have fake rivets on the side. There's a very high quality photo of Robert wearing the stunt glove in the "Screams and Nightmares" book.

Okay, man. I get what you're saying now. I'd love to see some pics that tie the two images together. It's not that I don't believe you....Both of you guys are probably WAY more knowledgable than I am. It's just that I can't fathom why it looks so different on posters and bts images VS. screen caps...Very strange.Cheers,Ryan

As others have noted, it is indeed the hero glove in that shot. The stunts (e.g. "this is god") did not have a fully connected armature, blades were very different, etc. I don't have them on hand but on the topshelf/"kruegear" forums there was once many pictures posted comparing the solder spills and other marks on the gloves. On a sidenote, one thing about the hero that not too many people notice is that the rivet at the bottom of the backplate was not (most of the time at least) actually connected to the leather glove. This can be seen in a number of scenes in addition to this one, the backplate regularly 'flips up' and away from the leather glove.

Ah.That completely reaffirms my suspicions that I am 100% uninformed regarding the subject of the original Freddy glove. hah! That said, I still can't draw a direct visual link between that screen cap and the hero glove as seen in all those promotional images...I'd love to see somebody do a nice comparison shot just for the record.Thanks for the correction, by the way.Cheers,Ryan

Here's a comparison photo I quickly threw together. There are two easily noticeable spots on the soldering patterns that we can compare and they match identically:<img src=\"http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn47/knifegloves/PosterHero.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />Remember.. the glove seen in the poster is the Hero Glove that's probably a couple of years old. The glove in the screencap is probably shortly after it was built and copper naturally ages over time which probably the more even coloring seen in the promo poster. I was originally wanting to create the glove seen in the promo poster but given that I currently don't know some of the aging techniques that will satisfy me, I think I will try to recreate the glove how it looks shortly after being built. Again.. I'm still a rookie in glove building compared to the other guys so my techniques may not be as advanced or as accurate as the others so expect my methods to change quite frequently until I finally find what I'm looking for.

Here's an example of the dirtier fingertips. While I know it isn't exactly like the film, they do look dirtier than normal because I always tried to get an even color and have a clean look to them. It looks much more like what I would consider a "properly weathered hero replica"...Any chance you could take a picture of it being worn, too? That'd be wicked.The fingertips are better, but still need a bit of work like you said. You're definitely going down the right road, though...Maybe once you get caught up on orders, you can be free to test out your methods. By the way, I should mention that I have always loved your blades' design...They're much thinner and streamlined than most other replicas I've seen, which is a great thing. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":thumbsup:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" /> The only other bit of advice I can give you on the leather glove itself is that it appears (to me) that the original hero glove was almost one solid color of dingy, dirt brown...Perhaps you could throw it in a diluted dye bath of some kind to enhance and even out the dark brown nastiness of the glove, instead of darkening the immediate area around the finger/palm openings.
