my question is, how is this not recasting? Some things around these boards I just don\'t understand and haven\'t for years. It\'s like, noone can ever recast because it\'s wrong. But when the \'elders\' recast a Hockey Mask, or a Kirk, or in this case a Vendetta mask. Then it\'s \'not\' recasting because \'they\' did it?

I don\'t know, I just spent hours and hours sculpting that V mask and I guess I\'m a little annoyed to see people just recasting it. It\'s like, "why the hell did I bother to sculpture it then? I should have just recasted it!" But then I think, "no, can\'t do that, that\'s wrong and I could get banned from the boards."

I just don\'t understand. Sad

VF, GB, 2Blood, please delete if this is a prob. Not trying to start anything, just Idk, want to hear other opinions I guess.

Id imagine, if they publicly offer them, and the fact that theyve described how the masks were made, DC\'s lawyers will come down on them.

I have no answer for the questions you seek grasshopper.. but..

That is recasting.. no if and or buts.. you should feel proud for sculpting your on!

If they modify the original technicly it isn\'t a recast tahts one of the loopholes.. I know it sucks.

It\'s the RPF. It\'s full of self rightous jack asses. You either have to ignore the "I can do this but you can\'t" crap that goes on there or leave. I left..

If it makes you feel any better...I think their mask looks like sh*t.

It is of course technically a recast but theres alot of grey area involved. Lots of people recast rare masks like old don post masks, screen used props and whatnot to share with the public and make a buck doing it. IMO I don\'t see a problem or care when someone is recasting a rare hard to find mass produced mask. DC Direct is no longer producing these masks so they\'re not loosing any money, the person who sculpted the screen used mask is not loosing any money he got payed to make the mask for the movie alone.

Recasting a movie prop or old mask can bring something to people that they could only otherwise get from a sculpture. (except for aquiring the original molds of course)...

Recasting an artists \"sculpture\" is frowned down upon because it\'s not trying to aquire a rare prop, it\'s moreso trying to steal someone elses artwork.

There are grey areas but this simple philosophy has always made perfect sense to me.

I\'d rather have a recasted movie prop than an original sculpture of that same prop.. Due to accuracy

I think Dan hit the nail right on the head there.

The dc direct version is made from a screen used mask, theres only 500 in the world and they\'re very hard to find. As a collector, If I needed one I\'d want a cleaned up recast of the dc mask rather than a sculpture from you or anyone else.

Wait a sec.this DC direct was a liscensed mask???
